So who are they should be the primary question asked.

I think MLB would be more popular if they showed more games on the local TV stations.

Not exactly a fan. I am pleased to see they are making a good effort to be competitive again.

    They are a customer.

I'm pleased when I see "small market teams," like the Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Minnesota Twins have success in Major League Baseball.

It must be a huge challenge to have to compete with the buying power of teams in markets like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

If so, that would seem to come from sharing a stadium. The Yankees and Giants (football) both played in Yankee Stadium, while the Mets and Jets both played in Shea. The latter pair also had that year, 1968-69, in which their new, less conventional guys were big underdogs to the old establishment embodied in Baltimore (Colts and Orioles), and won decisively.

It also comes from simple geography. The Mets and Jets are both in Queens.

Their administrative offices are both in Queens? They both played there, anyway. And I remember that was referred to on All in the Family, which was based in Queens. Once when Archie Bunker thought he was saved by a "miracle" on the job of a falling heavy crate just missing him, and said he would be in church on Sundays. His atheist son-in-law, "The Meathead," said when Sunday comes he (Archie) would be sitting in his old chair watching the Jets and cursing at Joe Namath. But Archie did go to church and told his minister he would be willing to do anything for which he might be needed. He somehow got tickets for the next Jets' game and the minister called and asked him to drive a church bus [he drove a cab on the side, so he presumably had a chauffeur's license] for some senior citizens' activity. Archie couldn't 'graciously' decline, so after hanging up the phone he said, "Damn! Damn! and Damn!" about having to drive the bus and miss the game.

Baseball may be America's past time. But NFL is the most popular sport.
