If one is serious about joining a group which supports our 2nd Amendment Rights, they should seriously consider joining the GOA, or Gun Owners of America organization.

The NRA has sold out to the establishment a long time ago. All their current work for about the last 20 years has been posturing to get money and members, then offering successive compromises to bills which gives their support.

Gun Owners of America may be found at http://gunowners.org/

For those who participate in United Way Donations at their work, there is a way to designate funds to the legal defense fund of the GOA foundation, instructions here:
    http://www.gunowners.com/

A politician who is a member of the NRA and boast about this but says nothing/knows nothing about the GOA, is, imo, part of the establishment, the problem, and snow jobbing the masses who put faith in anything that sounds popular or familiar (make that quote a familiar passage of scripture, a quote from a founding 'father' or founding document, etc.).

Lifetime NRA member, also member of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (not Jewish, just a fan of the 2nd Amendment who supports their cause) and my wife belongs to both groups, plus we have a family membership in Second Amendment Sisters.

Former NRA Pres John Sigler is coming to talk to our 9/12 group on Monday about the recent controversy with NRA's involvement with the "DISCLOSE" Act.
