Someone talked about the originals or MSS they believed. Do I believe in these families of MSS?

gb:"That is exactly the reason why years ago I wanted to study Greek and Hebrew text of scripture. I wanted to know those nuggets of truth not just rely on the opinion of others. The more I study Hebrew and Greek and practice my faith the more I see a truer picture of God. The more I know Him the more I love Him and the bolder I get."

Amen, gb! Exactly the same reasons why God led me to study Greek and Hebrew shortly after my conversion (and, Michelle, since you like to hear testimonies, I was saved solely by reading the word of God, hearing the gospel in it, and believing the gospel message. I began in Genesis and ended at the close of Revelation, getting saved somewhere in the middle of the New Testament; hallelujah! And, FYI, the version I read to get saved was the RSV, and I continued with that version, growing in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for many years).

Michelle: "Out of curiosity, what made you doubt the scriptures in your own language to even give you the thought/need to go to a foriegn language to know God and love God more?"

Even though you asked this of gb, it also applies to me. Contrary to the loaded wording of your question, I was *not* led to "doubt the scriptures" in my own language, but I *was* led by a faithful IFB pastor to search the scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. It was that pastor himself who so strongly encouraged myself and another young convert in that church -- both of us having such a great interest in the Bible so soon after conversion -- to begin studying the underlying original languages in order to *confirm* the truth found in English translations and in no way to engender doubt. Learning Greek allowed me very clearly to know God and love God even more. And that is a definite testimony.

KJV is a good translation. Got some problems with its Greek basis and Anglican slant that is offensive to me, a Baptist.

KJVonly is a sect that claims only the KJV (whichever revision) is true, correct, inspired. Hence the "only" designation.

Thankfully, we have MANY who use and love the KJV as a good translation. Sadly, we have a FEW KJVonly who reject God's inspired Word and replace it with a creation of fallible baby-baptizing, Baptist-hating Anglican priests.

KJV preferred users abound. KJVonly, we pray, will soon be blotted out from our memory.

Hey, you asked. You didn't expect anything different from me??

So with over 3,000 languages in the world, and only 322 Bibles translated into different languages what are the rest of the people going to do? Has God preserved His Word for those almost 2700 language groups? 90% of the world is non-English.

Not I. I use the KJV as my Bible of preference, but also am comfortable using the other MV's as well. I used to be KJVO, but after studying the issue for many months and seeing the vitrol and divisiveness of the KJVO crowd, I felt led to change my position, based on facts.

Amen, Dr. Bob. I have two members of my family now that are so KJVO they have cut off other members of the family because they don't use the KJV. It truly is sad. :(

When both you and I are long gone from this world, the KJVO Bible believers will still be going strong, regardless of what you would wish.

I pray, not, Brother Terry. Though I am KJV preferred, kjv Onlyism is a stain on the name of the KJV.

"I researched and found out that the KJV is the most translation than any modern versions because of God's promise of the preservation of the Holy Scriptures."

That is the same thing the Popes said about people that rejected the Jesuit Hesychian texts(and the "bibles" from them) and stuck with the Syrian Receptus texts(Acts 11 thru 13),and the Bibles from them.

But I feel your prayer(like the Popes) will never be answered..

I am KJV all the way. Although I don't beleive other translations should be thrown out. But, I think a bible belevier needs to root themselves in the KJV. The KJV is enerrant, thus should be used for all study, all memorized scripture, and most important all teaching! The Lord hates the lukewarm, so thats why I won't use a lukewarm Bible!

Bob Rogers:They had the works of William Tyndale and John Rogers the Martyr.

But they mainly used the GENEVA BIBLE. Also, they had the Bishop's Bible, Great Bible, and several others, each different from any other, same as the AV 1611 is different from any other. There are no two English BVs alike. We have no right nor the knowledge to call any accurate translation wrong.

mjwegs42:I am KJV all the way....which is your right. however, there's no valid reason to be KJVO except for personal preference.

Although I don't beleive other translations should be thrown out.

    Correct.

But, I think a bible belevier needs to root themselves in the KJV.

    Why?

The KJV is enerrant, thus should be used for all study, all memorized scripture, and most important all teaching!

    Again, why?

As for inerrancy, we've proven differently...just read some of the archives on this board alone. Clear examples...."Easter" in Acts 12:4..."slew and hanged" in Acts 5:30.

The Lord hates the lukewarm, so thats why I won't use a lukewarm Bible!

But how about using one that is "warmed" by ARTIFICIAL HEAT?

    Robycop3:

John Rogers the Martyr is generally associated with the Great Bible. The Smithfield Martyr was burned by Bloody Mary in October 1555.
