I went as did my family.

Hubby - in the worship team and in the drama
Me - running the computer for the projector showing song lyrics, graphics for the readings and also doing some of the audio
Oldest DD - helping with the deaf ministry
Second DD - singing with the worship team, choreographed the drama/dance and taught 16 girls to do it, then she performed with them
Son - videoed the drama/dance and was just generally adorable
Youngest DD - was even cuter and in the drama/dance

So we were there with bells on! LOL

Christmas Eve at the vicarage! The church meets at a public school so we don't have a place to meet other than Sunday. A few years ago we decided to open our home to the church folk on Christmas Eve. Everybody brings cookies or a beverage. Some folk come for a few minutes and leave. Tonight we had some folk that left around 10:30. We sing, talk, read from Luke, sing, talk, pray, eat and talk some more.

Carla and Steve are long time friends of ours. Carla has been battling cancer (now in remission) for a few years. She has been on our prayer list since her diagnosis. They came tonight bringing their son and daughter and their respective spouses. Carla and Steve know some of the folks from church but most of them are strangers. I'm sitting on the couch talking to someone when I overhear Carla introducing herself to Connie. Connie says, "You're Carla? I've been praying for you for years!"

I can't even begin to tell you what it was like watching and listening to these two sisters in the Lord talk, laugh, weep and pray together. I've been involved in many significant Christmas Eve services over the past 20 years. This is, by far, my most cherished.

My son dates a girl from England. According to Lilly pants are worn under trousers. That's good to know. I wore jeans and a flannel shirt. In order to set the example for the rest of the folks I wore my shirt with a button down collar. Formal flannel for the less cultured among us.

Our church had a Christmas service the Sunday before rather than one on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day

Yep, It is a high point of my year.

Christmas carols and rosary during the Vigil starting of with "Veni,Veni, Emmanuel".....A Missa Cantata ending with the church roof lifting with "Gloria in excelsis Deo" The church was packed to the rafters, the flowers magnificent, candles glowing off the gold coloured vestments, bells and smells!!!!

Staggered to some friends where I broke my fast with lots of others....tumbled into be about 0330hrs.

Splendid, tiring but Christ was the centre of His day !!!!

    Merry Christmas y'all!!:1_grouphug:
