I'm curious. I often imagine it would be nice. Especially for a retirement. But I'm not sure what its really like.

I lived on a house boat for a week in Seattle -- think "Sleepless in Seattle" type of thing - so probably a little different that what you are thinking. It was definitely a unique experience. Would I want to really live like that? Don't think so. Plus, Seattle is too darn cold & wet (though beautiful in the summer).

I don't live on a houseboat but we have a 42 foot sailboat that we take 2 week vacations on and use it a lot over the summer.

Honestly? Living on a houseboat is my private hell. LOL I'm SO not a boat person only because we've had a boat and I've experienced way too many "happenings" (storms, breakdowns, overboards, etc.). I much prefer to be on land. But ask my husband and he'll tell you that it's his own private dream to live on a boat. :)

    I had a 69 Chevie that could have been considered a boat...LOL

But if you get one & want to do some fishing off the Keys, give me a call. Id do that in a heartbeat. Make sure you got a fridge stocked with beer & ice. We could live like Hemingway. Dont forget the lemons & Limes for the mixed drinks. LOL

Before I was married, I lived on a boat. Wasn't a houseboat, though. I loved it, but it's not easy when you're 6'3.

I'd love to do it again, at least to have a place for vacations, but my wife wouldn't go for it.

I saw a story about a couple who bought an old Staten Island Ferry boat and converted it into a houseboat. That's the way to go.

Oh I forgot the Gin should be Gordon's or Tangery & the Vodka at least of the quality of Absolut or better! Any Tequila will do for the Margarita's. Oh the fun we will have.
