I find it very refreshing to have a president who can say, "I screwed up."

Notice I said they should have looked into it better ie, they shouldn't have put him for that position...

As far as Obama cheating on his taxes, that is a matter of opinion on how you call that. If you blamed all the republicans that had to go back and ammend their taxes I could see how you would be un-baised, but since you didn't you're don't care about his taxes and the fact that a mistake can be made, you're only looking to blame....

It's understandable after your base left you with nothing to vote for and your guy lost.

Did Obama ever reveal his own tax records during the campaign. I recall that John McCain did, but can anyone document where Obama actually showed his tax records? I'd like to see the link. Thanks.

You know you're wrong, you're just not willing to admit it... in this case.

When someone in this thread mentioned his heart, they were talking about the ability to see where he screwed up and said he made a mistake. They were NOT talking about his whole heart and his WHOLE way of thinking and YOU KNOW that.

If anything, you should be proud of the fact that he CAN admit he is wrong and pray that he admit he is WRONG on abortion instead of just continuing to drag him through the mud. It's not a like Christian response at all!

Also, it's good to see how we are allowed ti skew threads with wordings... I am not a Bush basher and I know he is out of office, but it's good to know I can bash him whenever the 'wording" is right and I can change the topic of a thread just because of the "wording"... That goes for Palin, and any other GOP/Democrat person I don't like something about.... Right now I guess it would be Joe the Plumber to bash huh?

Don't go editing my posts about Bush and others as I will attempt to derail the conversation of threads just because of 'wording' because you have just said in public that it's ok....

Does that really make sense? No. Could I do just that based on how you have argued your point in this thread? Yes. Would you like me to do that? No.

So I ask, if you want to talk about Obama and abortion, then start another thread. There are plenty of things wrong with his stance on abortion, but there are also plenty of things good and bad about him that doesn't relate to abortion.

If you want all threads to be derailed and that's ok.. then ok, otherwise I think you should rethink your comments here in this thread as it opens up Palin, Bush, and many others and silly arguements in the different threads.

Also, as Moderator I understand you are, for the most part balanced, but I have seen the power of the moderator be 'over used' or misused. It's human nature.

Now, do you want talk about Obama being able to admit his mistakes or derail more threads?

Google in a powerful thing... a simple search of Obama Tax returns found them.. Did you really want to look at them or imply he never showed them?!?

    That makes no sense.

Look into it better? They did look into it and knew that he had a tax compliance problem but didn't care... Obama wanted to appoint him anyway.

The "looking into it better" comes before the decision to appoint - it does not go to the decision to appoint or not to appoint. In that regard Obama should have had "better judgement".

No. It is relevant to Obama's willingness to accept cabinet members who don't comply with tax law. Obama is o.k. with it because he did the same.

As a politician (who knows campaign finance laws) and as a lawyer (who knows campaign finance laws and should know IRS regulations as they relate to political contributions) he filed returns for at least two years taking tens of thousands of dollars of political contributions as charitable contributions... thereby avoiding paying his fair share.

And then after deciding to run for President he decided to amend the returns... which suggests to me that he was aware of the problems all along and didn't care to do anything about it until he thought that it would be a problem in his personal political career.

    McCain - my guy?

Admitting the obvious is really risky, isn't it?

It might have meant something if he admitted it before it became so obvious that Daschle had to back out.

Daschle is the 3rd tax cheat he has nominated. One got through.

Where is his "admission" on that one.

He threw out a bone and lapdogs always seize the bone.

Hey, I am not saying and have never said he was perfect.. in fact I didn't vote for him. However I do believe that it's a step in the right direction that he will admit his mistakes, even if it's belated.

Our last president a few years ago couldn't think of anything he had been mistaken on... so we were left to believe he ws perfect? No, we know better.

It's never too late to say you made a mistake.

Maybe you should research this a bit before repeating this again.

I would find it more refreshing to have a president who would have the wisdom and experience to have not made this decision to begin with. When everyone else could see the problem, why couldn't Obama? And why do you pretend like it is some great thing that he admits he shouldn't have done it to begin with?

HEre's a novel idea: Why not not do it to begin with? That's leadership ... Do right the first time. Uphold the ideals you said you would. Don't just apologize when it doesn't work.

Is your head buried in the sand? Our last president did admit mistakes.

The difference is, perhaps, that his mistakes seem to be mistakes made in good faith, that only hindsight is clear about. Obama's mistakes were seen to be mistakes up front. He either didn't have the character or the wisdom to see it. Either way, that's not a virtue.

Perhaps you haven't been keeping up with the news, but he does support tax evaders. He has already nominated three. Two of them withdrew their own names. The question is, Why did they have to? Why did not the president have enough courage and discernment to say "These people are not fit to serve becuase of their choices"?

That would have been impressive. Admitting a mistake that everyone knew ahead of time was a mistake is not virtuous. It is not something to be applauded.

They may have been made in good faith, they they have resulted in the death of many innocent people.

As far as I know he never admitted a mistake until his last days in office and even then would not own up to some real big ones.

With Obama perhaps the vetting was bad. However he did say, "I screwed up." I cannot imagine GB making such an admission. He fired people who did not agree with him.

While you guys don't like to hear it, Obama's decisions will result in the death of more innocent people than Bush's did. And Bush was pursuing freedom for people, not convenience.

The reality is that we can't always see the end of every decision. This was one Obama could see the end of. It shows that he has no character.

    You don't know much.

But only when it was so painfully obvious. It is quite humorous that there are people who think this is admirable.

Your imagination is bad, but it doesn't have to be imagined. He already did it.

Bush reportedly had one of the most inwardly open administrations in history. He had people from all sides speaking to him. It simply wasn't known publicly what was being said because of executive privilege and the desire to have people give honest views without worrying about being dragged through the pressl.

Cold political calculation and you bought it.

Makes an admission of the obvious when caught red handed and he's suddenly just one of the boys who happened to make a mistake.

Whatever else you can say about him, Obama is a 'smooth talker'.

I think he missed his calling as 'Rev.' Sharpton and 'Rev.' Jackson's replacement.

And BTW, being better than Bush is nit exactly a high bar. It is almost a slap in the face: "Well Bush never did it." ...

To those acolytes who have a predelection toward being "smooth talked" by him, yes.
