I find it very common to see an entire post quoted directly beneath the post itself. It is not necessary to quote the entire post to respond to the post. It uses a lot of space and it is very unnecessary. With that in mind, I recommend a few practical suggestions on quoting:

    1. If you are responding to a post directly above your reply, it is not necessary to quote the post at all.

    2. Limit your quote only to those portions that you wish to respond to.

    3. If you wish to respond to the entire post, quote a phrase and respond, then repeat the process until you are finished. It makes it much easier to read and follow.

    4. If you wish to place your agreement on a post that is not directly above your reply, simply quote the first sentence or two and then add your "Amen" as the reply. In other words, do not quote an entire post just to add your "amen" to the bottom.

    Thank you, Pastor Bob.

I have a hard time with a poster
who bolds their quotes. I've got
a 20-year habit that comes from we
on bulletin boards paid for connection
BY THE MINUTE. I download stuff i
want to read. I use a .txt format which
omitts all the bolding, pictures, etc.
So when a poster boldswhat they
are going to respond to, I can't
tell the difference in the quoted paragraphs
    and the response paragraphs.
Please use quotation marks AND bolding
(i'm sure the bolding is nice when
one reads from the screen). Thank you.

Okay, How do we debate this? Is the Doc propigating a new version or what? [IMG]

I agree with this version and I am also guilty, but it's his words not God's Word,
Is that clear enough, Ed? [IMG]

Doc, is that the way you would have it? [IMG]

QuickeningSpirit: "Okay, How do we debate this?"

We don't. This is a reminder that we need to consider
the Board's storage space. We need to minimize the
storage space by quoting only that which needs to be
quoted for the reader to get the sense of the conversation.
Of course, if you would like to donate a few $100 for
the purchase of additional BB storage, you can probably
quote all you want [IMG] Check out donating to the BB at:

QuickeningSpirit: "Is that clear enough, Ed?"

No. I would really find it kind of you to help
me find KJB references in one of my three different
    books:

    KJV1611
    KJV1769
    KJV1873

Thank you for your reasonable service to us of
    providing proper scholarship references
    and legal Bulletin Board attribution.

So now I see I MUST have been to some body's cemetary to be considered credible?

Now we are "taxed" for using a "free" discussion board?

I don't mind contributing to the cause and it is most certainly worthy to a degree when the truth is allowed to have course of freedom.

So the KJV 1611,1769, and the 1873 are yours?

Hmmm? You've been around a little longer than your picture indicates. ;)

Here is a scripture i'm studying for
    my Sunday School class tomorrow:

Proverbs 12:18 (HCSB = Holoman Christian Standard Bible):

There is one who speaks rashly,
    like a piercing sword;
but the tongue of the wise [brings] healing.

    And yet another:

    Proverbs 28:23 (HCSB):

    One who rebukes a person
will later find more favor than
one who flatters with his tongue.

So, no flattery from me tonight ...
A wise man is easy to be intreated.

It is un-Baptist to distain education
    (such as Seminary).
It is un-Baptist to eschew success
    (such as the BB-bb).

Back on topic. Use common sense and don't waste the BB space and the reader's time.

    I like that.

    You can quote me. [IMG]

Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

I agree with the intent of the thread to limit quotes as to keep from filling so much space. How is it you quote with a reply and still get to respond without getting it all mixed up in the quote? Is it done by adding
