Are the Hunger games movie and books Good, bad, or neutral?

Are they teaching out teens situation ethics (as opposed to absolute ethics)?
(ie, it's ok to kill another teen if you are put in an arena and told only one of you gets to survive).

Is it damaging to read about,or see portrayed, teenagers killing each other?
Is this any worse than seeing adults portrayed as killing each other?

Whatever your responses are regarding the violence, Do you hold movies like "Lord of the Rings" to a different, looser standard, or would you say we should not watch them either?

I'm not sure yet. I am reading the book myself and my 19 and 22 year olds saw it and did not like it because of the whole premise of being forced to kill for a game. They felt that it was not good because of, as you say "situational ethics".
