"...140 grain Spitzer traveling at 2300 feet per second"

Heheh, Ron White says slow it down to 55 mph and put headlights on it and the deer will jump out in front of it. :)

I often underestimate the ingenuity of the carnal mind to hallow its lust. Let me clarify my position.

To find pleasure in killing, even if it is your food, is inhumane and unchristian.

I had a neighbor once that had a large collection of guns and he loved to kill....that was his thing....it was the killing that was the thrill more so than anything. One day he put a rifle to his wife's head. Hmmm!

Wondering if you would elaborate on FUBAR? LOL Haven't heard that one in decades. Sounds like Postal management. I do not know about the other states, because New Jersey has more forest than one would think, but here in Western Kentucky, deer are so rampant, they end up in the middle of fairly large size communities like Paducah. The damage to cars is incredible as our friend from NY so accurately explained. There have been proposals here to greatly expand the dates of deer season. Personally, I would have no problem with a year round season.

As for the question of expense and stewardship, it is no different than any other hobby or form of entertainment. Really, every person on this board is paying an internet bill. Is that a good use of our money in relation to stewardship? One certainly does not need the internet, cable, or cell to live a middle class life style.

As far as the motive for hunting, for all the tree hugger posts, that is between the hunter and the Lord. So maybe we could ban hunting in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. It is not one of my hobbies, but that has nothing to do with anyone else doing it. There is nothing wrong with it Scripturally. I just do not enjoy it, as I went with my Dad on several trips growing up. My only hunting will be if someone comes into my house threatening my family at 2 am. The only gun I own is a 38 special.

The only merit to some of the debate is the motive of enjoying seeing something die. I can see that being not of the Lord. I suppose it is a matter of what is going through the mind of the individual. If it gives a feeling of superiority, power, or a thrill of seeing something die, there is something wrong with that person. If it is pure sport, I see no problem in it. And by the way, people around here use the deer meat and skin. Most process it themselves.

    and near pagan to boot.....

"I am sorry, Brother Deer, to hurt you but there is hunger in the lodge." ~Choctaw legend

Of course Aaron, we recite the pagan prayer while smearing deer blood on our faces, drinking beer, playing cards and inciting pretty girls to dance.

Wow. Using that acronym on a Baptist forum? I hear enough cussing at work, I don't want to read it on a baptist forum.

I'm not a tree hugger Mike, ive been killing all my life. Both my uncles were butchers...we owned, raised and slaughtered for consumption and resale at our stores. I both trapped and hunted since I was 12 yo.

Then there is the "Honor, Courage, Commitment years...KILL, KILL! MARINE CORPS!!!

So you are justifying your implications of cuss words in a Christian setting by my choice of secular career? Yeah, that makes sense.
