There are a lot of games going on in the All Other Discussions section of the BB.

Now despite the occasional use of too much sarcasm (being the main offender I should know ;) ) we don't play much here in the music section. I figure we could take a shot at playing something else here apart from our instruments and sarcasm ;) I'll even try and behave on this thread myself :D

General idea is: Quote a great line from a hymn, praise and worship song, CCM, whatever. The next person names the song your quote is taken from and leaves one for the next, and so on. If you have to cheat with a search engine to get the quotes make sure you mention it.

So "..without further eloquence.." as the movie saith:

An easy one to get the ball rolling [IMG]

Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

And Can It Be? -- Text by Charles Wesley

"Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall and thought of me above all."

    *Above All* Michael W.Smith?

Mine was the sins that drove the bitter nails and hung Him on that judgment tree....

(That one may be too hard....Bonus points if you know it!)

    I'll give another one:

All I have needed thy hand hath provided

    Great idea!

Looks like Scott gets the bonus points Molly [IMG]

I'll have to settle for whatever points are left for "Great Is Thy Faithfulness"

Now I have to go back to thinking about Scott's [IMG]

"Ye who long pain and sorrow bear, praise God and on Him cast your care!"

Was just about to type "What a Friend we have in Jesus", then realised I have to think about it some more instead [IMG]

"All Creatures of our God and King", Draper's paraphrase of Francesco di Assisi's "Cantico di fratre Sole" (sometimes said to be "Cantico delle Creature"). I should be very grateful were someone able and willing to point me to the original text.

    My go:
"The cedars of Lebanon bow at his feet, the air is perfumed with his breath"

Note: there may be more than one correct answer. If possible please post the whole text as you have received it.

I found this one with that line Haruo:

His Voice, as the Sound of the Dulcimer Sweet

    It's at Cyber Hymnal here

Now new from the womb, they interrogate me saying, “Who is He?
Do you believe what that Book is saying? How gullible can you be?"

    All I Know, Caedmon's Call

I might have to look it up further [IMG]

    This Kingdom - Geoff Bullock

Great one. Don't know if this one may be too obscure. Hopefully not.

"From Your pain You gave me life,
Poured out Your blood, a sacrifice,
Now I am free from all my fears,
I am free to live for You!"

    All that I want
All I really really want is You
    Come and meet me Lord

    All that I need
All I really really need is You
    Come and touch me Lord

From Your pain You gave me life
Poured out Your blood a sacrifice
Now I am free from all my fears
I am free to live for You

    All That I Want
    Jim Stern

We have a guitarist/ singer who sings this quite often.

    How about:

Whiz bang went the rock on his head... whiz bang boom fell down he's dead... whack, whack sword cut off his head he should have stayed in bed!

(Now that's not very obscure but is a kid's song)

It's David and Goliath, but I don't remember the exact title.

Here's one for you guys to wrap your heads around:

Not by works of righteousness which I had done, but by grace He set me free...

That's right, Scott. It's from the Donut Man, Rob Evans.

Well the 'song' you gave is an AWANA song with a slight change.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to His mercy He saved us. Titus 3:5a

I'm guessing you have another song in mind tho. However, if I'm right, I submit the following:

One day a plain, village woman driven by love for her Lord,
Recklessly poured out a valuable essence, disregarding the scorn.
And once it was broken and spilled out, a fragrance filled all the room,
Like a prisoner released from his shackles, like a spirit set free from the tomb.

Sorry! It's a different one. This is a hymn - and it was my late grandfather's favorite. I sang it at his funeral two years ago.

"Broken and poured out" was a sweet favorite of mine back in the early 80's.

How 'bout "I found the way through the blood past the veil to the holy of holies with God"?

I'm remembering it in "Favorites", one of the early ones.

I don't know if this is an answer to mine, but the correct answer is "Oh, What Love!" The chorus went:

Oh what love, that he should die for me
Saving grace, thus to supply for me
Oh what love! Oh what love!
Ever more I'll sing it! Oh, what love!

Not sure if one has been left... so I'll start it again.

"Holy words of our faith handed down to this age,
    Came to us through sacrifice; O, heed the faithful words of Christ;
    Holy words long preserved for our walk in this world;
They resound with God’s own heart; O let the ancient words impart."
