"I can only imagine what it will be like, when I walk by Your side...
I can only imagine, what my eyes will see, when Your Face is before me!
I can only imagine. I can only imagine.
Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus? Or in awe of You, be still?
Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing 'Hallelujah!'? Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine! I can only imagine!

I can only imagine, when that day comes, when I find myself standing in the Son!
I can only imagine, when all I will do, is forever, forever worship You!
I can only imagine! I can only imagine!

Yeah! I can only imagine!

Yeah! I can only imagine!

I can only imagine! Yeah! I can only imagine!! Only imagine!!!
    I can only imagine.

I can only imagine, when all I do is forever, forever worship You!
    I can only imagine."

I've heard this song so many times lately and have tried to imagine what I'll do the first time I look into the eyes of My Jesus!

I THINK I'll be so overcome with what He did for me that I'll fall to my knees sobbing... but then, the JOY!

Have you ever thought about this and what do you THINK you'll do?

I can't imagine what my dear sweet Saviour ever saw in me, but when He finally calls me Home, I will say, "Yes, Sir, here I am, the one who's been a pest to you all these years. Thank-you for saving my wretched soul and thank-you for loving me in spite of myself".

Oh what joy and wonderment to finally be with Him and to be completely content forever. It's been a blessing to serve Christ...a high and holy privilege!

"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ."

I really like this song, too, Diane. I can't imagine. I think I can imagine, but I really can't. Like you, I'll probably fall to the ground sobbing. And then I want to hug. No, I can't imagine.

What I imagine is just how simple it all will be.

Personally, I do not expect loud trumpets, a lot of noise and fanfare at all. Instead, it will be simple and relaxing, a warm embrace from Him followed by a "Well, now, that wasn't so bad, was it? Welcome home!"

Diane, Ivan Parker is one of my favorite singers and I love listening to him sing this song.
I believe there is no way to imagine what it will really be like when we get to Heaven and see Jesus. He says there won't be any tears in Heaven, so we who have the propensity to tear up, will just have to laugh a lot. I know the first thing will be a hug.

I heard Mercy Me in concert this past Saturday night. They were incredible. They sang this song with Michael W. Smith joining them half way through the song. It was the final song of a great concert.

It was as close to heaven as I am going to get in this life!!!!

    Absolutely exhilerating.

Another shallow, emotional CCM song that ignores the answer already given in Scripture. Read Revelation 1. When John, who was Jesus' best friend on earth, saw the glorified Christ, he didn't get or give a hug, say thank you or anything else, he fell at His feet as dead. When we see almighty God in His glory, there will be no thought of self.

Pastor Greg...you had me frightened. I was afraid the place that you were describing was not the same place that I thought I was going too.

Until I went and reviewed what happened with John. John fell at Jesus feet but what Jesus did next was pretty awesome when he said, "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades."

I bet John started singing and dancing and jumping around with great emotion and thankfulness! I wonder what I will do.

Shallow? It's about a person who looks forward to seeing Jesus in heaven. Doesn't sound shallow to me.
John wasn't dead when he saw Jesus in heaven in Rev. we will be when we see Him in heaven. Big difference.
So where does the bible give us specifics as to the moment of our death, the first moment we see Jesus?

I think it's a wonderful song and what happens when I see Jesus can never shallow. Emotional, yes, shallow, no.

Turn tail and run, if my knees didn't give out. Jump on the nearest horse instead if it's there maybe. My luck it's turn out to be the one Jesus rides and I'd get kicked out of heaven for being a horse thief.

So what's so bad about being emotional when you consider what Christ Jesus did for US? Even Jesus wept.

God created me an emotional creature and I can worship Him in many ways, including my emotions. I'm quickly brought to tears when I read verses that touch my heart or speak to my daily needs.

Even if you are sliding downhill, hold on to your faith.

    I shall NOT be moved!

Psalm 26:1 "Judge me, O Lord; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the Lord; therefore I shall not slide."

Acts 20:18b "You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you, 19 serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews; 20 how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, 21 testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. 22 And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, 23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. 24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Just as we are all constituted differently, I expect us all to manifest our reactions differently when we get to heaven and see Jesus.

And one thing I have discovered - It's not always possible to predict how you will react in a strongly emotional situation.

But that doesn't really matter. Imagining how we are going to react is just fine as a pasttime. Carry on folks.
