If I recall correctly, the movie script goes something like this:

    "I see dead people........they don't know they're dead".

I had an imaginary friend when I was little named Okra...I don't know where I got the name from, and can't remember what happened to her.

My sister had one named Little Toni. I was friends with a girl named Toni, and my brother was friends with a little boy named Tony...so I guess my sis felt left out by not having a friend named Toni. So, in moves Little Toni. When sis got older, Little Toni moved to Florida to live with her brother, Big Tony. LOL

I have been a christian for 5 yrs, I love the Lord with all my heart, I believe every word in the bible to be true and inspired by God Himself. Im here to tell you about 10 yrs ago we lived in an old farm house in Virgina there was something or someone in that house at night we would here the back door shut feel a cool breeze go past us and hear someone walk up the stairs, when my sister-inlaw came to visit she would not sleep upstairs, she told us she felt as if someone was watching her. we had not told her about what we knew until after she had told us what she felt. when my mother-inlaw came to visit, she heard the back door shut and someone go upstairs, she was ready to pack and go to a hotel. what was it to this day I dont know but something was there.

A little background then I'll get to my point.

We called my paternal grandmother Meme, she died about 8 years ago. We called my maternal grandmother, Grandmother. She loved to play scrabble for hours on end, and she died when I was in the 7th grade. My daughter Katie is named after Meme.

Katie never knew either of her great-grandmothers. About a year ago when Katie was three, she was playing with imaginary dolls. Katie turned and said very clearly "No Meme do it like Grandmother!" She then seemed to be talking to someone. Right after that Katie became fasinated with an old scrabble set that had belonged to Grandmother.

Did my grandmothers their Great-granddaughter? I don't know, but I would like to think that they did.

"I would like to think that they did."

That's one cut in the key. Another is that the human mind is much more expansive than the limits of it we normally use. We give and receive information that touches the conscious level very little or none. The stimuli of being in a place once occupied by someone we knew and loved can greatly increase sensitivity, and normal sights and sounds may stimulate abnormal processing and conclusions.

I know these things do happen. Other than in dreams, I have not seen (or heard, or even felt) someone deceased that I once knew. But I did once see an appearance of Jesus himself, and I have come to believe it was simply a hallucination. But it is curious how I don't remember the words 'he' said to me, but I do remember 'he' spoke in the most absolutely perfect diction you could ever imagine. I'm quite sure it was something like a message of encouragement to an unpopular teenager. But to someone who considers this logially, it would be no surprise that, at 16, I was recovering from serious injuries and during this recovery had really started to study the Bible. Multiplied sensitivity and a resulting hallucination-- I'm quite sure that's all it was.

    Could apparations be demons?

Demons are around us at all times. They know our relatives and could give intimate details. Would it be possible for them to fool little children with such details?

Can demons manifest themselves into images of deceased loved ones with only one goal in mind which is to promote mysticism, the occult and witchcraft?

Look at people like John Edwards. Because of our belief in ghost, people will go to John Edwards for comfort instead of God. Isn't that one of Satans goals? To pull people away from God at all cost?

Hi, My youngest son, Isaac, has epilepsy, and before his brain surgery last Oct. he said that he could see angels. whether he could or not we'll never know on this Earth. He saw them everywhere, and at anytime. Even outside of his seizures. He felt very comfortable around them, and said that he thought they were protecting him.
We told him to ask it's name the next time he saw one. he did and the "angel" said "Isaac, son of Abraham"
At first we thought they were partial status seizures in which he was imagining them, but now we are wondering.
Once, while our pastor was preaching, isaac said that he saw an angel above the cross on the wall behind our pastor.

Tell your son to ask what it's name is. If you are dealing with something demonic, then getting it's name is a way to control it. just as Jesus commanded the demon to give up its name (legion)

If it is angelic, then no harm done.
At Cleveland Clinic, my son's claims of seeing spiritual things were taken very serious. They are even doing a clinical study on wht he claimed to see before his brain surgery.
BTW, He had scar tissue on his occipital lobe (which controls the vision)
Only God knows how much full potential our brain has. What could we see or even do if we used all the brain, instead of just part of it.

You know what I've never told anyone this. And I can't believe I'm telling complete strangers this. Here it goes, both my parents came from Christian back grounds and taught my all about God but for some reason also strayed way off track.

My mom told me at one pint in California she was a Wiccan. Also, she had a bunch of witchcraft books and claimed that the Wegee (spelling is wrong, but sounds like that) board marker would move with out her hands actually touching it. My parents had tons of ghost stories, even a very strange picture of a "demon" my dad caught on film one night while driving in the desert.

For years as a small child I had nightmares every night. I was sure the pictures on the walls watched me. When I lay in bed at night and stared into the darkness hard enough I saw "demons". The theme was always that they were going to kill my family and they would dare me to save them. Also in the dreams I was always too late and my family would be killed.

I had accepted Jesus as my Savior as a small child. But I had all this negative stuff around me. My family did not go to church and my childhood was not happy. As a teen I found my mom's books and looked through them. Started seeing and hearing things again and decided to throw them all away. I think my Mom found them back on the shelf I did manage to sneak them into some garage sale stuff and got them out of the house. However I became convinced that evil was seeking me out. That it was trying to get me, because I was a child of God. My little sightings started being seen by those around me. I commonly caused little teen mass heisteria at parties and such.

Now, to end this rant. As I grew up and fully turn my back on things not Godly, as I really fully gave my life to God, I had a clearer look at what was going on. My life was open to Satan, my parents and I opened ourselves to him. Was I haunted by demons? No. But By dipping into the "spirit world" I opened myself up believe all kinds of things. I played right into the Devils hand. Were the "demons" real to me? Yes, at the time. But they were really just my mind, being played with by the Devil. It was almost like, "Well if you want to believe I can get ya, then I'm sure gonna help that thought along!" In short I don't believe in ghosts, or talking to them, or Wegee boards, tarot card, Astrology charts, palm reading, etc. The only Spirit I care about is the Holy Spirit! AND THIS IS COMING FROM A TRUE BEEN THERE DONE THAT POINT OF VIEW.

Thank you all for your input... and what a scary situation to be in as a child April.. yikes!! However, I never said this 'thing' was evil, and I only used the 'I see dead people' to help get responses. I don't believe that you can see your family members when they die. I believe that the second you die you know where you are spending eternity. To keep things away from the 'dark' side I have told my son that it is probably his guardian angel just checking up on him and not to be scared because we are all Christians living a Godly life, and live in a Godly home, I am not worried about evil. I have prayed and prayed about the 'hedge' of protection around my children, family and house. Deven has not mentioned it since then. However, my hubby and I still hear 'things that go bump in the night' with no explanation. Thank you all for your support and prayers. I apologize for not responding sooner I have been off due to health reasons. Thank you all so much.

Our dead relatives do not come as ghosts. They are either in hell or with Jesus. What people see is satan or his devilish angels taking the form of someone you know as in your Aunt Bea, Grandma, Grandpa, etc...
I have always believed in ghosts myself because I have stories from when I was a child growing up and until this day. I see things. But the difference is this: As a Catholic I thought they were my dead relatives coming to say Howdy, as an Independant, Fundamental Baptist, I know better than that! :)
There are angels that can visit you, but ghostly forms that you recognize are the handy works of satan himself or as we like to call him "Old booger nose"!

I had both heavenly and evil visit me here recently. We had a week of Revival in our church. And during that week we were asked to treat the church as a Holy Temple and not talk inside but do all our fellowshipping outside. We were encouraged to come to the church anytime we wished to pray. One night I decided to go to church about 2 hours early before the revival meeting so that I could pray. I was the ONLY one in the church. I was in the middle of some good humiliating praying and I was crying and I heard sniffling. I didn't pay much attention to it until I heard it closer and closer. I turned around thinking someone had come into the church but no one was there, so I turned back around and continued. I heard the sobbing again but now it was as if someone was right behind me leaning over me. I was not afraid and I continued to pray until I was done.
By the time I got finished it was almost time for the meeting so I started to get the church ready, opeing doors, straighening the chairs, turning on lights etc...
There is a remote switch by some stairs to turn the fan lights on. As I was getting it I felt someone push me on the stairs and I fell down. No one was there.

I later questioned the Evangelist we had speaking that week about it and he said he believed it was an angel weaping with me and the devil rebelling against me for my faith and praying.
We also had another church member get pushed and break her arm when no one was there!

But I believe the ghosts being talked about in this thread are in fact evil spirits. We must be careful and not trust them just because they look like someone we know. They still must be rebuked.

    IMO

It is a fact that all humans have souls. There have always been stories of haunted castles, homes and even spirits of of long dead presidents walking about in the White house. But spirits or souls cannot normally be seen with the human eye, although some have said they seen some.

The apostles surely believed in ghosts or spirits. For after Jesus' resurrection, Jesus appeared to them and at first they thought they were seeing his ghost. Also when Peter was let out of prison and came to the home where Christians were staying, the Christians inside thought at first his spirit was pounding on the door.

Also in the OT the bible says that Samuel the prophet appeared to King Saul AFTER he had died previously. Samuel even gave King Saul a doomsday prophecy of his soon coming demise the next day for he and his son Johnathan. Many bible commentators say this wasn't really the "spirit" of Samuel, but a demonic impersonator. But the bible says says it was. For the bible repeatedly says, "and SAMUEL said...". Also God would never use a demon to give forth a prophecy. Third, Samuel said King Saul and his Son would be killed the next day and be WITH HIM. Where Samuel came up from was what the Jews call "sheol" or the abode of the dead.

Do I believe in ghosts? I have never experienced a haunting, nor do I want to, but yes I do. I think a lot of times people who die violently don't realize they are really dead and so cling to their natural surroundings on earth that they're familiar with, until they are guided into the light that leads them to what we call heaven. I just don't have all the answers. But someday we will all find out.

Okay... this is creepy. Last night I was on the phone to my Christian step-mother, I got up to go in the kitchen. Now I can see my reflection in the glass doors in my house, it was night and I could also see the lamp the couch etc. When I started walking I saw a black flash of whatever behind me. I just sat back down in the chair. A little while later I heard 3 knocks from the basement (where the little boy was seen) that sounded like the duct work was being hit. I told my stepmom and she said anything that causes fear or to be uneasy isn't from God.

I've seen strange things happen myself, friend. But let me tell you, you better soak up your little boy in the Scriptures.

I don't like telling these kinds of stories but I've had my fair share of them in my country, some so bizarre you'd just think I was making them up.

There are fallen angels, but the real ones we need to be wary of and avoid, are those who come to us with a false gospel, for they are emissaries of Satan, and they come with a smile.

The fact that you are a new christain explains alot. Meaning that Satan will do all he can to pull you away from your belief and trust in God our Father. Don't let this consume your life and take over your thoughts. Keep your focus on Jesus. When good angels always came in the bible the first thing they said was be not afraid. They didnt want you to be afraid.
Evil cant stay where the Holy Spirit is.
Say out loud that you rebuke this in the Name of Jesus Christ the next time the feeling of it are sight of it happens again.

You should check into the past history of the home you live in. Find out if a tragedy such as a fire or murder ever occurred at your home. Even if it goes back 50 years. For some reason spirits of tragic events sometimes linger around the physical surroundings they knew while alive. Some do not even realize they are dead and so wander aimlessly. The "little boy" may be a key to understanding what happened many years ago.I would definitely look into the history of your home.

Luvnlife, just a few comments on this topic. I was involved in the occult (and New Age) for most of my adult life. One of the things that interested me early on were ghosts, apparitions, etc. and I did see these things. Now that I am a believer, I realize from the Bible that dead people cannot hang around -- their spirits cannot hang around! When people think they see ghosts, dead people, apparitions, whatever, this is coming from either imagination, delusion, making it up, or it is demonic. That is, a fallen angel (demon) could appear as a dead person or whatever. This kind of thing lures people into morbid interests and into trying to contact the dead, something God forbids.

In 1 Sam 28 where Saul goes to the witch (or medium) of Endor, Samuel does appear but it's because God allows it. The medium cried out when she saw him, because that was not what she was used to seeing. This was God's doing. Samuel rebuked Saul and said he would die in battle the next day with his 2 sons, which happened, and that the Philistines would win, which happened. This was a very special instance in the Bible that is not the norm but was done in order for God to rebuke Saul through Samuel. 1 Chron. 10:13 tells us that one of the reasons Saul died was because he consulted a medium.

Because some of the apostles thought they saw Jesus' ghost does not mean ghosts exist -- that just shows that they believed that. That does not make it true. There is no Biblical basis for believing that dead people can haunt a place or hang out somewhere on earth. "For it is appointed unto man to die once, and after this the judgment." Heb. 9:27

I speak on this topic and I wrote an article on this for the Christian Research Journal called "I See Dead People: A Look At After-Death Communication." But I have a shorter article on my site on spirit contact at
    Spirit Contact

Don't get caught up in believing in ghosts -- it can really take your focus off Christ and creates fear.

A ghost is defined as the spirit of a dead person. There are no such things as ghosts. The spirit of man when he dies either goes to Hell or Heaven, and that is it. There is an unseen world, with which we do battle.

Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Our battle is against Satan and his demons, against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places.

People definitely see apparitions, things that appear as ghosts, and are even able to audibly communicate with spirits. It is demonic. Behind every idol is a demon, and behind every apparition, ghost, etc., is a demon. A demon can appear as a dead relative. The more a person plays with the occult, the more they will see some of these strange things happening and be entrapped by the devils snares.

The Bible commands many times to always have control of our minds. Read your Bible and look for the commands that tell us to: Meditate, study, Search the Scriptures, Think, Give diligence, Take heed, etc., etc. There are so many commands in Scripture that command us to be in control of our minds. The battle is in our mind so much so that:

    2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

We are to bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. Use your mind--all the time.

    And again:
Romans 7:24-25 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Paul won the battle over the flesh with his mind.

The danger of the Charsimatic movement is that in speaking in tongues one opens up their minds and allows the mind to be bypassed by the subconscious--a very dangerous thing. It is possible in this way for demons to gain a foothold in those that speak in tongues.
    "Think on these things" (Phil.4:8)

1 John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Well I am definetly getting the sense that whatever is in our house is evil. I only used the word dead lightly, I didn't believe that it was someone who died. I believe my son, it just scared me because when he was 5 and we lived in a different place - he kept seeing a boy that would pinch and hurt him, now supposedly this is NOT the same boy - he said the other boy was mean - this one didn't do anything but 'peek' at him. I fear for my son, and I don't know what to think.
