Dear friends, I will be gone for a few weeks, but will return around the first of the month.
But I have 2 prayer requests that I want to hold up to you all in the versions forum.

    1) The reason I'm leaving: My son had brain surgery last Oct. to stop seizures. He was having up to 60/day. He now has about 2 or 3 every 2 to 3 weeks. Praise God. We have to return to Cleveland Clinic for a couple weeks so that they can monitor him and try to find out why he is still taking some seizures. I am asking God to reveal to them, for once and for all, where the seizures are coming from.

    2) Next Sat., April 17th, I will be moderating a class/debate on Bible History. There will be about 20 churches represented there and about 60% of those churches are KJVO. This debate has been in the works since last Aug. and it is one reason that I found Baptistboard on the Web. This class is also one reason I have debated here. I feel I am ready for any and all comments/questions from both sides and know that God can and will use me. We have an excellent Bible history teacher coming that I am excited to hear.
But I also know the devisive nature of the issue.
The one thing i don't want to happen is for churches to split, or to leave our association over KJVOism.
So I am asking that when you wake up this week, especially Saturday morning, you remember me in your prayers. I will need a very huge dose of Godly wisdom next Sat.
Thank you all for allowing me to tune up my debating skills with you over the last few months.
Everyone here is a big blessing to me, even the KJVOs. For without them I would not have had anyone to "practice" with.

    Thank you for your Prayers.

I shall be honoring ALL your prayer requests!

I was once a patient of Cleveland Clinic myself.(diagnostics after ruptured gallbladder/peritonitis in 1986) This big guy put me in a wheelchair & I didn't think we were gonna stop till we reached Toronto!

I pray that the HOLY SPIRIT speaks thru you & that all at the conference shall be edified by the discussions. And you KNOW everyone here will be praying for your son's complete deliverance from seizures!

    IN CHRIST'S NAME.....

Thank you all, I am in Cleveland now at the hospital. I can access the internet for about 10 minutes a day.

The class went fine, I was disappointed that only a couple KJVOs showed up. It seems that they just don't want to know the truth. That saddens me.
As for my son, he had a MRI yesterday, and we find out tommorrow what it showed. He will be admitted tommorrow morning to be monitored for about a week. I'll keep you all updated.
Gotta go, gotta keep it under 10 minutes. That's hard to do!!!

If I have a chance I'll post something in the next few days about something I found out that is a quote in Heb. that is only in the Dead Sea Scrolls. Not in the Masoretic text.

    See ya
    Tim

Hi again, after waiting two days, my son was finally admitted to the monitoring unit today. Now it is a waiting game, waiting for him to have some seizures so they can detect what partof the brain they are coming from. We may be here another week.
But that's ok, because we ran into a family that is really confused about Christianity. One of the ladies best friends that she had wrote her a letter the other day tellling her she could no longer be her friend, because she allows her kids to watch TV, and wear pants! And the lady that is getting this letter is lost! Once she found out we were Christians, she asked me why a Christian would be so judgemental. I simply looked at her and said, "look at the last part of the word "Judge'mental' and you will get it." We had a laugh, and my wife and I started talking to her about her problems.
God has a way of hooking up people that need to be hooked up.

Anyway, this is a versions forum, so I just want to ask a question about some things that came up in our Bible history class last Saturday.

While the speaker was talking about how God preserved the scriptures from the autograpghs to 1611 and beyond, he made statements that God used the RCC to accomplish this. One KJVO seemed offended that anyone would suggest the TR had RCC influence.
Now my question, does it seem that KJVOism is linked to the assumption that the Baptist church was never in the RCC?

I will keep you informed of my son's progress, also If you need someone else to pray for go to www.proclassradio.com and click on "mariah's story" to read of a little girl that I met today.
So many other things in the real world to pray about. And we spend all this time defending Bibles that God has already said will never pass away. I'm starting to feel guilty. It is something to think about.

Please go to this website and read her story. The site is her dad's business site, and he has her story linked to it.

    Dear Brother Tim,
I may be in error, I do not know much about this 'onlyism' and other versions stuff, but I am definitely being moved farther from 'onlyism' by some high strung militant onlys, if only they knew.

But, in regards to your question, I believe the Baptist or those holding baptist principles in history and at present, were never part of the RCC.

This belief doesn't hinder me from recognizing the influences of or possible influences of the Anglican church on the translators of the KJB, and therefore, an RCC influence by association if you will, but that is just my take on it.

I think not all are so hard line, but some certainly believe unless you have full agreement with what they believe (as taught by their pastor or Sunday School teacher) you are a heretic, an unbeliever and deny the KJB. Now, I am confident personally the KJB is the preserved word of God, however, if things that are different are not the same, let me ask a question?

I understand the words in the KJB found in italics are not words found in the original manuscripts, is this correct? They have been added to provide clarity? What?, men, clarifying the word of God?

Ok, if these are not in the originals, is it true that things that are different are not the same?

Just a thought I had in my weird hillbilly head dizzying sometimes ain't it?

Hope everything is well with you and your son.

    God Bless
    Bro. Dallas

My wife just called me and told me that Isaac just took a seizure.
The more he takes while being monitored the faster we get to go home and get back to normal.

Well, gotta go. I've exceeded my 10 min limit.
But check out the website in the previous post. This family certainly needs our prayers.
again it is www.proclassradio.com and the link is "Mariah's story"

thank you, see you later. tiny.

God bless you Tinytim. I certainly hope that the seizures your son has while under observation guide the doctors. I'll be praying that they do. By the way----Isaac------GREAT name for a son! May the Lord be with you, your family and especially your son, the doctors and other caregivers.

Frogman, I agree with you to a certain point. The italics have never bothered me or any KJVO I know. That is one thing I agree with them over. It is just a translational problem that occurs everytime something, anything is translated into another language. As for the part about RCC and the history of Baptist, i'm not for sure yet. I start a Church history class on May 4th for six weeks, I'm sure I'll understand it then. When I was a IFB, I was taught the Trail of Blood was the ultimate authority on church history, but since I found out there are untruths int the Trail of Blood, I'm not too sure what to believe right now. Ask me in two months..

The point the KJVOs was trying to make was that there was no way God would turn over the Bible to monks, and others that were not saved. Makes since on some level, but historically it just isn't so. All known manuscripts have had someone's hand on them, and since no human is perfect, it makes no difference who. God is in control, he can use any imperfect human, look at me, I hope I am usable!!!!

Dallas, I used to live in Glasgow, only for one year in 1975, before my family moved back to Louisville. We were members of Temple Baptist, an IFB church. I think the church is KJVO. Do you know anything about them? (their Pastor has been there since 75, God bless his faithfulness!)
