Please can anyone tell me why the volume control icon has disappeared from the tray (bottom right of my screen) the icon looks like a speaker. also the arrow that used to open and close the space has gone all icons showing all the time, instead of some disappearing behind....... don`t know how this happened.

Windows just likes to keep you alert. Start/control panel/sounds and on the volume tab there is a box to check to have the icon there.

Mine disappeared for a short while also. I just figgured that I had performed some less-than-intelligent operation. :BangHead:

The next time I turned the computer on, it was back. :)

I still don't know what happened.

You are best served to leave your computer's volume turned all the way up and use your speakers' volume control. It will give you better quality.

When anything disappears from my icon tray, I just reboot and it comes right back.

When something disappears from my (not my computer's) memory, how do I reboot myself??

And if I can reboot myself, will I then remember all those things I've forgotten??

I am also following Trotters advice :-
You are best served to leave your computer's volume turned all the way up and use your speakers' volume control. It will give you better quality.

    THANX to both of you
