"On October 12, a procession honoring Our Lady of Zapopan celebrates the feast day of the Virgin of Zapopan. Around dawn, her small, dark figure begins the 5-hour ride from the Cathedral of Guadalajara to the suburban Basilica of Zapopan. The original icon dates from the mid-1500s; the procession began 200 years later. Today, crowds spend the night along the route and vie for position as the Virgin approaches. She travels in a gleaming new car (virginal in that it must never have had the ignition turned on), which her caretakers pull through the streets. During the previous months, the figure visits churches all over the city. You will likely see neighborhoods decorated with paper streamers and banners honoring the Virgin's visit."

My apologies to all the RCCers. I made a big mistake. The doll, being made before 1600 A.D., could not possibly be plastic. Must be Mexican china.

Funny thing, going through the New Advent site, I cannot find word one on these statues. But I did some reading on how relics are defined. There is no way either of these dolls could have possibly met the criteria.

But yet we know that more than one pope has given his blessing. You should look at the cathedrals dedicated to these dolls. What's going on ? This is Christ's TRUE chruch ?

Oh well. I'll continue to add to this thread.

"The highlight of the day was standing in the long line of devotees waiting to catch a glimpse of the Virgin "Rosario of Talpa", who had been placed with reverence in a sanctuary off the main church. Her usual resting place is on the alter of the basilica, but seeing this was the "festival," she was located where the pilgrims could be closer to her, although there were iron bars protecting the display. What overwhelmed me was the great belief and devotion shown the Virgin. Some approached on their knees, all prayed to her. An older women, standing beside me serenaded her in the sweetest singing voice. She sounded like an angel. The festivities begin every year on March 24th to commemorate the day the Virgin was unearthed. The fiesta continues for 3 months, till May. Thousands, upon thousands of religious souls make this pilgrimage annually; sometimes it involves saving pennies all year long."

"Talpa is a religious center. Our Lady of the Rosary is one of three “little sisters,” the other two being the Virgin of Zapopan and the Virgin of San Juan de Lago. The Virgin of Talpa is the patron saint of three states – Jalisco, Colima and Nayarit. Throughout the year, tens of thousands of her pilgrims journey to Talpa during four fiestas. The largest of the fiestas is in March and the most colorful is in September."

You guys are leaving me no choice but to claim victory, in Jesus. That the RCC, despite it's own words, practices, condones, and is partly funded by pagan idolatry.

  8. Brother Curtis,

Proclaim away! I have seen the error of my ways and will repent of such foolish pagan worship!!

Wow, I just sneezed and hit my keypad, and that is what came out...gifts of the Holy Spirit? (^:

    I'm just razzing you

The more sources you give, the slower it is for me to get through them all and give an adequate response, could we leave them at what they are for now? Thanks.

    Pax Christi,

    Stephen

Preach it Bro. Curtis. You're doing a good job. If the Catholics can't see that their in violation of the Ten Commandments, then their blind, and I believe deliberately so--just like the Charismatics deliberately are blind to the teachings given in the 14th chapter of 1Corinthians. Both groups don't want to see the truth. It is not that they can't; they won't.

  13. DHK,

I do see the truth because I have searched for it. I have already talked to Brother Curtis and told him that by week's end I will have some replies to him...

Yes the Catholics are deliberately ignoring the 2nd commandment.(make no graven image).

But then thats no worse than ignoring the 4th which says remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy.

Jesus said if we break one we are guilty of breaking all.

    Peace,

    Tam

    It's worse.

We have a Church that claims to be the only "True Church of Christ".

The claim that salvation in it's purest sense can only be experienced in their mass.

And their leader claims to be Jesus Christ's chief representative on earth.

The same leader that visits, blesses, and orders massive castles to be built to house what are CLEARLY idols. That's how those folks see them, they worship them, they believe the dolls have magic healing powers, it's worship, and the church, rather than speak out against it, encourages it. It cannot be deinied.

I wish I read Spanish, because I have a gut feeling that they charge for the priveledge of personally visiting these "virgins".

Let's wait for Stephen to come back. In the meantime, I would pretty much endorse what Johnv said, up to a point; there's a lot of misunderstanding among Protestants as to what constitutes 'worship' and 'praying' and we would perhaps do well to read some Catholic teaching on the subject to better understand where they're coming from. I personally would have great problems with this kind of stuff; that was one of the stumbling blocks that led me to leave the Catholic Church some 20 years ago

    Yours in Christ

May I ask then what Catholic teaching you have read concerning subjects such as 'veneration', 'the intercession of the saints', 'prayers for the dead', 'asking the saints to pray for us'?

    Yours in Christ
