If it is unconstitutional to require a citizen to purchase health insurance, would the same principal apply to Social Security?

Good question. I have another one.

If forced health care is unconstitutional, should we impeach our president for trying to force something unconstitutional on us?

The good news is that since it has been to the lower courts already it will go to the SC this fall instead of waiting until it is fully implemented.

No. Social Security is a tax-funded program. The government can levy a tax, and the tax is used to pay for a government program. The government has the constitutional authority to levy the tax, and the program (IMO) is constitutional.

IMO, it would be constitutional to tax individuals to pay for a government-run healthcare program (like Medicare), but it is not constitutional for the government to require purchase of a product or service from a third party.

    This is correct.

No. This is not a high crime/misdemeanor, nor would it be the first time POTUS did something that was in opposition to the Constitution.
