    The "necessary" is the issue.

"Want to" or "desire to" is entirely different.

Yes Baptists believe you don't have to keep the commandments to be saved.. What part of faith alone don't YOU understand.

Yes, I agree, you have Catholic tendencies that are showing through your posts...

True Baptists Don't believe in keeping the commandments in order to be saved.. but because we have already obtained salvation.

Hey Saved By Grace, what is wrong with this verse?

    Luke 1:28
    (28) And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

If you are not Catholic, you should know what is wrong with this verse.

I needed to be saved BECAUSE I can't keep the commandments! I am a SINNER! I know of NO ONE besides Christ who's ever "kept the Commandments"! The Commandments were given to show us we were sinners incapable of keeping them, and in need of the Messiah!

Please, time to be honest here. You are a "catholic in disguise" aren't you? You posts are very telling.

    Jesus said of His people,

Mat 7:16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
Mat 7:17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.
Mat 7:18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.
Mat 7:19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Mat 7:20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

With malice towards none and charity towards all, we should pray for the comfort and consolation of this young woman's family and entrust her soul to God.

Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
Joh 13:35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

Then I guess I am not a "true" baptist. Tell me tinytim, you honestly believe that you can commit adultery and still be saved? Can you commit a homosexual act and still inherit the kingdom of God? Where is that is scripture?
Faith ALONE does not mean that you have the freedom to sin.

If you are truly saved, and commit adultery, do you lose your salvation? Remeber 1 John 1:9? That was written to CHRISTIANS. SAVED people.

No one has said you have the freedom to sin. However, when you were saved, did you think you became perfect? In this flesh, you will CONTINUE to sin until Christ takes you home. I fail Him everyday. He still loves and forgives me.

No, I don't think you are a "true" baptist. I think you're a RC sock puppet.

I will answer when you tell me what is wrong with this verse:

So do you "confess" your sins as John instructs you to do?

    .

From R.C. Sproul (he's not Catholic is he?)
"If Jesus taught anything, he taught that it is absolutely essential for someone who has offended God to turn from that sin and repent. In fact When Jesus began his public ministry, the very words he preached were "Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand" There is nothing more urgent and necessary that repentance if one is going to escape the wrath of God."

Since you are a sinner do you repent?

I ask God for forgiveness. You ask your priest?

My King James reads "Hail O favored one"
My New American Catholic bible says "Hail, highly favored one"
The Greek text has the word kecharitomene which means "one who is graced"

I don't have a problem with any of them. Now answer my question. Thank you.

Why do you ask God for forgiveness?

Because God is the One I've sinned against. :BangHead:
Why do you continue to post under false pretenses?

I will answer for myself: I ask God for forgiveness for being disobedient just as I would if I offend my husband. By recognizing my sin and confessing it, I will be growing more and more aware of my sin and be able to become more like Christ. I do not believe my sin will separate me from God but it does put a rift in the relationship and my confession will help restore my relationship with Him.

But what if you DON"T confess your sin. Do you still have a saving faith?

What if you refuse to confess your sin and repent? Will you still be saved?
Maybe Independent Baptists are different that those on this site.

    This is from our website:
Every human being is born into the world spiritually dead in sins. Not only is he born in sins, but practices and chooses sin. He is responsible to repent of his sins and trust Christ for salvation. If he does not, he will die in his sins and go into the eternal perdition of Hell. (John 3:18, 36; Matthew 25:41)

I'll just be more direct: Are you a Roman Catholic? Yes or No?

No. Grace Independent Baptist Church. This is what we believe from our website:

"Every human being is born into the world spiritually dead in sins. Not only is he born in sins, but practices and chooses sin. He is responsible to repent of his sins and trust Christ for salvation. If he does not, he will die in his sins and go into the eternal perdition of Hell. (John 3:18, 36; Matthew 25:41

Why is this so foreign to the Baptists on this site?

I've got no problem with it. Being a calvinist, I totally agree.
