    I am not. Apology accepted.
Then you have either not read my posts or you have failed to comprehend what I said. Or both. [IMG]

Thanks Skan for the clarification -
    you're answer made sense.

So we are left waiting for an AV1611 onlyist to answer the questions.

We look at the Greek manuscript evidence.</font>[/QUOTE]I agree completely. The point I'm making is that if we can only resolve the discrepancies between these differing KJV's by appealing to the original Greeek and Hebrew text, then our "final authority" is the *original language text*. This fact alone demonstrates that the KJV-Only position is untenable.

Different does not mean wrong. There is more than one way to make a point. "Things that are different are not the same." "Things that are the same are not different." "Things that were different are not necessarily wrong." "Things that are wrong are not necessarily different."

    Time for a new mantra.

I have a suggestion for a new Mantra.

"Things that a VERY VERY slightly different are the same as things that are WAAAAAY different.

    Ps 12:6
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Why does the silver need to be purified 7 times? Couldn't the finer have just purified it the 1st time? Why did Jesus have to touch the blind man twice? Why did the ashes of the red heifer have to be sprinkled 7 times?

Purification is a process. (as silver tried in the earth.) And it is a limited process (7 times.) When it is done it is done.

To compare these very minimal changes (1611-1769)to the changes between Majority Text versions and Alexandrian versions is a stretch. You might as well say that because someone puts new plugs in a 1963 Corvette, (See there, it's different than the original)that it proves that the differences between a Corvette and a Pacer are not important.

The historical fact remains. Two versions (one Greek Bible in the 1st century, and one English Bible-the KJV)have sparked two absolutely unprecedented world-wide revivals. Two Versions have changed the face of history like no others. Sure some have been saved by the NIV, RSV, 5-colored-sheets-of-paper, etc. But again, any comparison of KJV-fruit to MV-fruit would be like comparing KJV-edition changes to KJV/MV changes.

Go with the 1769. Fruit suggests that it is Number 7 Pure.

Comparing the fruit of a Bible that's been around for 235 years to that of a Bible that's been around roughly 30 years hardly seems fair.

By the way, China is experiencing a revival similar to America in the 19th century. The most popular Chinese Bible is the Chinese Union Version, which is based on the English language Revised Version of 1885. See source link:
    http://www.amityfoundation.org/ANS/Articles/ans98/ans98.1/98_1_3.htm

Somebody better go tell them they're not using the Word of God for that revival.

The KJVO invented it, we simply ran it into the ground the way they did before many here at the BB pointed out the differences between the AV1611 and the 1769 Revision.

So, I'll still use it in return manner until the KJVO remove their heads from this hole in the ground they dug for themselves.

    Shawn,
That was a good article. It very well may be that God is about to shift his focus from English to Chinese. Just as he shifted from Greek to Latin to English. (In relation to the written Word) I have no problem with that either.

Asian countries are sending out missionaries all over the world, and we have stumbled greatly in 100 years or so. Praise God if he raises up a perfect Chinese Bible. Only time will tell. In the Bible he seems to take the Word away from those who reject it and give it to those who seek it. (Lam 2:9, II Kings 22) Follow the fruit and follow the obedient Christians.

Pastor Lacy, I don't believe God is shifting His language "preferences" at all, any more than He's shifting His choice of peoples for special favor. He chose the Hebrew people who are now most obviously represented by the Jews, who spoke/wrote Hebrew in the old days. Jesus, and most of the first Christians were Jews who spoke Greek, Aramaic, Latin, and some Hebrew, along with the many languages mentioned in Acts 2.

Your view is of the EUROPEAN revival. Most of us are unaware of similar waves of evangelism in Asia & Africa at various time. Those famous old church buildings in Moscow weren't built to BAAL.

Here, we're mostly concerned with ENGLISH versions. For most of us, English is our only language. We're largely concerned with the false doctrine known as KJVO that's sprung up among English Bible users. We occasionally forget that Jesus died for ALL people, everywhere.

No matter how hard the KJVO advocates scratch for some credence for their doctrine, it remains a myth.

At least Pastor Lacy admits that it is not the AV1611 like so many do. He admits that it is the 1769 Oxford Press version. My problem here was the 1611 guys who use the 1769 version and fly the AV1611 banner.

Now calling a version printed by one publisher the resurrected Word of God is a matter for a whole different thread.

    Psalms 12:6 (KJV1769):

The words of the LORD are pure words:
as silver tried in a furnace of earth,
    purified seven times.

Hello! The "AS" indicates a simile.
    What is a simile?
Don't they teach that in school yet?

Maybe i'm blessed by a Pastor who learned something
in his Bachelor Degree? He got an English Degree,
not something trite like Basket Weaving.
