It is understood the reason for so many variants is the curse against man for the Tower. Would you like to maintain that as a reason for a plethora of English versions?:tongue3:

    Amen!

Yes, He sure did! But then He graciously provided translations of what He said the first time. These translations eventually brought us the Bishops' Bible, the Geneva Bible, the KJVs and a host of other English Bible translations since that time. You're still extremely confused, Salamander. If you want to stick with what He "said the first time" then you'll have to go back to the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek - what He "said the first time" wasn't in English, Salamander. Did you forget that?

For one thing there are no "variants which conflict with one another concerning God's word" in legitimate Bible translations. They all teach the same message as the KJVs. The "outright attack against the Lord" happens when people doubt His ability to preserve His word in more than one English Bible translation and doubt His wisdom in providing multiple English Bible translations.

The "reason for a plethora of English" translations is that God is keeping His promise of preservation. He didn't retire in 1611 or 1769 or whenever the "perfect" KJV was published. As long as there are living, evolving languages, God's work of preservation will never be finished. Thankfully, God doesn't break His promises, Salamander.

Oh - I didn't know that at the Tower of Babel, that God made them all speak different eras of English. I was always under the understanding that it was DIFFERENT languages.

Of course He did, but the scribes who made copies of the infallible text made mistakes in the copying.

Various English translators have collated and compared the copies of the originals and attempted to reconstruct the original wording of the autographs.

In addition, those English translation versions of those reconstructed texts themselves contained human errors intoduced by the translators most of which they attempt to correct in later revisions.

The most noble (IMO) were the King James translators and their successors (starting in 1613) commissioned by the Church of England through 1769 - They corrected hundreds of humanly introduced flaws into the 1611 First Edition Text.

I do not think English had come by that time.

    Have you changed your mind?

In the thread :Not Recommended (4/23/05) you said regarding the NIV/TNIV :"These are probably the ones I would be most against." You also included the JW Bible,SDA Bible the Book of Mormon etc.

On 5/19/06 in the thread called :Which Bible Versions Are Not The Word Of God? You said :'And to complete the list I would have to include the 'politically correct' versions like the TNIV and the NRSV."Here you also attached the NWT,Clear Word Trtanslation, Cotton Patch etc.

Hopefully you would renounce such a position today -- otherwise you are in a hopeless contradiction.
