Thanks. Very interesting post. Elephants are quite amazing.

Years ago I read about a big game hunter who killed many elephants. Among other hunters he was called "the elephant killer." According to the book I was reading he died and was buried in a rural setting in Africa. Elephants traveled to his grave, dug him up and stomped his body until there was nothing left.

I tried to find this story on the Internet, but have not been able to do so. If I find it I will post a link.

I would have scoffed about this till I became a per owner/lover about 18 months ago. I can't prove it, but animals are more complex than I imagined.

Yep. Even cats. I have always said that pets respond as to how they are treated. If they are treated like family members, they tend to act like family members. If they are treated as "dumb" animals, they tend to act "dumb." Except the word "dumb" really means they can't speak language, not "dumb" as in stupid!! Pets do vocalize to get their wants and needs across to humans!!!

What amazes me is that animals understand languages!! (It's not just voice inflection!) How do animals know what words mean in different languages??? Mysterious.

Yes, please post it if you find it. I am not surprised at all. Elephants have been known to grieve over the passing of one of their own - thus, elephant grave yards in Africa.

Glad ya'll enjoyed this story as much as I did! :flower:
