Since when have we cared about what Iran says? We didn't take them seriously last year or the year before so why start now?

It doesn't really matter who was in office or what policies where being used, they wouldn't like us, respect us or care about us....

    What's new here?

No, that isn't new either... It's always been this way and will always be this way until we wake up and elect people that we can actually believe.

No President "gets it"... they get their ideas and ideas goals, but we haven't seen a president "get it" for a long time....

    Again.. nothing new....

Here is an article that helps show how Bush failed and it's probable that Obama's efforts won't go any where either...

It doesn't "show" anything. It is an opinion piece. It is alright to say Bush failed so long as we understand there is nothing anyone could have done. Iran wants nukes and no one else wants them to have them. No ones mind on either side will or would have changed.

The core issue is the conflict between the all of the middle east and Israel. And until they have run Israel completely out of the area nothing will come to and end.

I don't think many of the American people realize just how much of a failure the Bush administration has been.

If Iran is the measuring stick, then you must consider Carter a failure too.

I did not realize that a measuring stick of any sort was needed to show that Carter was a failure.

I believe that keeping us safe from terrorism for 7 years was a success. That is something Clinton did not do. If he could have kept his fly zipped he might have taken custody of O'sama.

    From your article.

The new administration of Obama has also refused to rule out any options -- including military strikes -- to stop Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope and pray that we do give up the objective of world domination that controlled policy during the last 8 years. For one thing, we simply can't afford it. We're spending more on our military than the rest of the world combined. This madness must end now.

I'd like to see a link that proves this. Can you give us one ? I'm not saying it isn't true, but I can't support it thru my research.......

You start with this and I am almost ready to agree with you... and then...

You say this, which is exactly what the article said and what I implied by posting it...

No one will change this... it's bigger than that already. In my opinion Obama reaching out and offering to talk is at least a step. It might not get us any where but what's the harm? Especially since the article suggested that Obama doesn't rule out other options.

How well did Bush do at that task? I am not 'picking' on Bush but I find it hard to see where you can make a statement like that against Clintion when Bush did little more to get the job done. Bush went as far as to fly out Osama family of the country when things hit the fan....

Both of them missed the mark on getting Osama... don't just blame Clinton.

I was talking about military spending. I'm quite sure Obama will have us at war with several countries, soon enough.

Iran is right! Obama's first major interview as President given to Islamic reporters, was like an apology in which he cited reasons for his own sympathies!

Well, this madness consists of about 4% of GDP, so that's not really high, historically. Also, the greatest amounts spent on defense are personnel (all-volunteer forces) and maintenance costs. LINK
