This is one reason war should be avoided if at all possible.

If the terrorists would stop their insane acts of violence even against their own people then life in Iraq would immediately be better for all the people who want a peaceful and secure life. Wars are fought because enemies such as these terrorists have no regard for the welfare of others and will do anything they can to continue the conflict in hopes we'll all give up and let them have their way. I've seen the evils and misery of war and it really does hurts - for a lifetime - all those it touches and that includes the civilians caught up in it as well as the warriors. It is terrible what suffering people can inflict upon each other. Unfortunately, war seems necessary for peace because of mankind's evilness and it will be so until the Lord comes again. I'm not going to let that keep me from supporting what must be done any more than I let it keep me from doing what I had to do when it was my time to serve. We're the good guys in this fight and the enemy is not. No one - including ABC, CBS, NBC, BBC or even the ICRC - is going to change the truth of that.

It's all up to the Iraqi people themselves. They know who the insurgents are, they know where these are, and they know how these operate, the solution to this problem is not really in the hands of the coalition. Insurgencies thrive because people are afraid, or supportive, of the insurgents.

Which is exactly one of the principal desired outcomes of terrorism along with a belief that fighting against it is a hopeless and lost cause.

Great post. Evil forces are driving these willing fanatics into greater atrocities all the time. The lefts stance on this is maddening. We are a divided nation and it must be so for satan to succeed.
