    I was appalled that my daughter had to sit and watch a woman starved and dehydrated to death in this country. It seems by the polls that aproximately 66% of the public were on board with her husband.

    This is scary. Talk all you want about advanced directives. This country is getting very comfortable with killing it's weakest members. The unborn, infirm and elderly.

    Who does man think he is to decide the quality of life for anyone? God?

    I am in agreement that if someone doesn't want extrordinary measures taken to keep them alive. But food and water I don't think fall into this criteria. After discussing this with my mom in the nursing home she changed her advanced directive to specifically say she always will want food and water.

    This was the most barbaric, inhumane, un Christian thing I have ever seen. This is already happening to our elderly in nursing homes and hospitals all over the country.

    General euthanasia is comming to this nation.

    I think this nation has sunk to a new low. We are worse for this. I think the world will also think so.

    I wonder why I would be jailed if my dog were sick and I starved him??

    Except for you being appalled about your daughter having to sit and watch it, I agree with what you said. You are the parent and could have turned the channel.

    If your dog couldn't eat would you give him a feeding tube or have him put down?

    People are not dogs; from a christian perspective. But they are no different; from a secular anti-christ perspective. Let's keep things in context folks.

    This nation has long ago sunk to a new low. Oregon has had a "euthanasia" law for a while now.

    What could be lower than killing the unborn out of convenience? Not queers, not the Schiavo case, not anything.

    America is asleep. It won't wake up. Not even the 9/11 episode really woke us up. Most folks, IMO, have no clue why that happened. But God is sending all these "disasters" to wake us up, much like He did Israel of old, but we WILL NOT choose the right way.

    America is still the best thing going on this planet, but not for long. The King of Glory is coming and will put ALL nations, who have forgotten God, down.

    Off hand, I can't think of ONE nation that will escape THAT day. Meanwhile, let's get out there and win a few more for Christ's Kingdom.

    In HIS service;
    Jim

    I guess I should have explained a little better. My daughter is 14 yr old and in christian school. They followed this closely. I was appalled by the fact that in such a country as this she had to see something so immoral and anti-Christian.

    Quoted by P_Barnes: If your dog couldn't eat would you give him a feeding tube or have him put down?

    I was simply stating that it is unlawful to starve a dog while we starved Terri. FEEDING TUBE OR NOT, it was wrong!

    If the class followed this spectacle closely, why don't you ask your daughter what her conclusions were and the conclusions of her classmates and put it here. I think we'd all like to hear what wisdom a 14 year-old as to impart regarding the title of this thread: "Is America a Better Place?". I'm serious....... there might be a new perspective from our youth.

    I really don't know... :( ... Maybe the question should be 'Is America much closer now to God or going far from God?'

    Because there's NO better place here in this world. See where I am, which do you prefer? [IMG]

    Wherever I am it doesn't matter, 'The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.' [IMG]

    just a thought...

    BillyMac,
    Good idea. We have discussed it and I will in length today. I will post her answers tonight.

    Quoted by Pistos: Because there's NO better place here in this world. See where I am, which do you prefer?

    No doubt true. I just feel we took another step down the ladder morally.

    I'm sorry if I discouraged you, but don't be, for we are not of this world! [IMG]

    Whether you are an American or not, our citizenship is from heaven, right? [IMG]

    What I'm trying to imply is that -- We should be content whatever our situation might be or wherever we are. Philippians 4:11

    One day, all the nations of the earth will be judged, America included.

    And then I read where there will be a tree with leaves for healing of the nations. Rev. 22:2

    Perhaps it is this that will help heal the wounds of the nations inflicted upon the people by evil people in authority.

    Therefore; in whatsoever state we are in, therewith to be content.

    Hmmm. I really don't like Montana. I prefer Idaho. So I guess I should be content in THIS state huh?

    Is that what this means? :eek:

    In response to BillyMac's request:

    I spoke with my daughter today and basically she said she thought it was stupid not to feed Terri or give her water. She couldn't understand why the powers that be would allow such a thing. She had a teacher actually say "Well, she is brain dead anyway." She didn't think Jesus would be very pleased with the way this was handled.

    Sounds like a callous remark for the teacher, but the teacher could also be trying to get the class to think on their own too. Nonetheless, I commend your daughter Soulman. It seems she is perceiving well. I hope you took the opportunity to teach her too.

    I believe so Mr.Jim, until God's purpose for you in that place is done then God may lead you to another place. Please read Acts 8:5 Philip in the city of Samaria, Acts 8:26 Philip in the desert, Acts 8:40 Philip found at Azotus.

    Do you like desert Mr.Jim and live there for almost 8 years? Ask me I'll tell you more... [IMG]

    Brother Pistos;
    I LOVE the desert regions. I lived in Phoenix and Las Vegas for a number fo years. I think the desert South West of the US is plumb beautiful!

    But, also, I love the mountains of Idaho. I was raised there. I guess I should learn to appreciate the "beauty" of the Montana Eastern Plains since there are actually people here whom I know that do love it here. I could learn I suppose. Never too old for that, eh wot?

    In HIS service;
    Jim
