"The baptism with the Holy Spirit" is different than receiving
the Holy Spirit INSIDE at the time when one is initially saved.

Elsewhere, we are discussing this with great interest,
and I thought maybe some here would like to do likewise.

I've been baptized by God's grace.
Once with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit which accompanied my change in desires towards God, and once with water to commemorate both that and His Son's death, burial and resurrection.

I have also been filled with the Holy Spirit, on at least one occasion... which I believe that some would call, the "second baptism of the Spirit".
I believe Scripture calls it being filled with the Spirit as well.

What book are you finding this in?,
since there isn't any 'Baptism of The Holy Spirit' anywhere in the Bible.

The Holy Spirit has never baptized anything, or anyone, anywhere.

I think he's getting it here:

    Acts of the Apostles 19:1-7.

Is there a command to believe and receive the Spirit INSIDE
and to be initially saved (some say born again)?
I see it more as an invitation.

Everyone who believes (to God's satisfaction)
receives the precious Holy Spirit INSIDE
(Paul says He is INSIDE in 7 verses).
Some say this is the born-again experience.

The Holy Spirit performs this ... 1 Cor 12:13 ...
"For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—
whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—
and have all been made to drink into one Spirit."

The "baptism with the Holy Spirit" is performed by Jesus Himself,
    and is mentioned here:
    Matthew 3:11, Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16, John 1:33, Acts 1:5, Acts 11:16.

Yes, some people call it "the second blessing".
And only BACs who have been so blessed have been "filled" with the Spirit.
It is like being filled to overflowing (with tongues overflowing as a result).

Most people believe that this "baptism with the Holy Spirit"
is confirmed to the person and to those nearby ... via ...
at least a few words in tongues. For me it was only a few words!
(A friend of mine spoke in tongues for a whole week after receiving.)
And I do NOT have the gift of tongues, which is one of the
9 spiritual power gifts in 1 Cor 12, but I have some of the 9.

    O. K.

No concept or mention or teaching or illusion or suggestion or connection or any other relationship between The Holy Spirit and water baptism, there.

When God Teaches things with words do people just skip them and go with stuff they make up in their head?

When God Teaches things with words, people just skip them and start making up stuff in their head?

"For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—..."

The Corinthians were all Led by The Self-Same Holy Spirit to be baptized in a body of Baptisted believers assembled there at Corinth.

The Holy Spirit and the word 'baptise' don't have any relationship there, except in His Influence in having members, in particular, that He Chose follow The Lord in being baptised by water.

That is what all believers were Commanded to do and baptism is their entrance into that church body assembled in Corinth.

So, people skip what God's words Teach and say "The Holy Spirit baptized something", when you said "Jesus Did the baptizing".

Why just skip that "Jesus Baptisted"?

What was invented here, by people just skipping what God Says with the words He Uses?

Is God second fiddle to what people make up?

No 'Baptism of The Holy Spirit', here, that exists for someone to be interested in.

Is this just completely made up?

Matthew 3:11; "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:"

So, there isn't any concept of 'Baptism of The Holy Spirit' anywhere in these verses, or The Bible, and it is just 100% something people made up THAT GOD HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH?

    Matthew 3:11, Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16, John 1:33, Acts 1:5, & Acts 11:16.

Not only that but the last sentence in Matthew 3:11 is

...he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire:

    Greek
...αὐτὸς ὑμᾶς βαπτίσει ἐν πνεύματι ἁγίῳ καὶ πυρί

    American Standard Version:

Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you in water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire:

Who is the, "He" you are talking about?

    Jesus?

So, are you done with making up about 'The Baptism of The Holy Spirit'?

Nothing like that exists in The Bible.

Jesus figuratively and symbolically inundated, i. e., 'baptised', something in, or whatever, The Holy Spirit

and Jesus was to symbolically inundate, i. e., 'baptised', something in, or whatever, fire.

Do we skip that Jesus baptised?

and skip what Jesus Baptised in, or whatever, The Holy Spirit, now, and just start making stuff up?, as to what God is Saying?

How about, in "fire"? Just skip it?

And make something up in our head?

Alan i agree with you - JESUS is doing the baptizing - we are placed into HIS church by HIM when we are/were saved.
Not the Holy Ghost - He does not baptize people.

some scholars say this passage is teaching that this was a one time deal which to me makes no sense - IMO We each are placed (baptized) into the church of Jesus Christ by Christ Himself when we are/were saved.

Also the baptism of fire speaks of a cleansing with the power of a spiritual fire in our life.

So, you're just making this all up?

    "Some people call it..."

It is hard to be interested in skipping The Bible, just to invent false religions.

Alan, i don't think he's making it up.

when the indwelling Spirit moves, our emotions often times get involved which makes it difficult to explain the experience with words.

Been there done that - to quote a cliche

    I guess I've heard those.

And, I guess people haven't heard what Jesus baptised with The Holy Spirit.

I can't see baptism and Salvation related anywhere, even to say Jesus pours The Holy Spirit in someone, in Salvation.

The idea of a big thing called a church, and some idea of every Saved person being 'baptised' into it is too wild for me, too.

They all come from skipping what God is Saying, first, and then wanting to play around all day with these made up bright ideas of man.

Just look at the word, "fire", in that Passage and see if you find, "fire", before it, and "fire", after it.

That would be the Divine Interpretation of Jesus baptising with "fire".

Being Honest with our Bible must be tough, to impossible, and I suppose it is, for just us, naturally.

Our emotions didn't get any Promise of any Miraculous, Instantaneous Gifts, such as those Promised to the 11 in Mark 16, or Given to Paul, or the 70.

And don't have or experience any.

I will Love saying The Holy Spirit through The Word, and Jesus through Prayer, and Belief and Faith Avail Much.

In fact what can the first three Not do?, besides sin?

Alan you seem way too quick to throw us into the Lake of Fire.

My reason for a translational update to the passage you quoted is that we are NOT baptized WITH the Holy Ghost but IN the Holy Ghost.

I simply wanted you and others to know that the Holy Ghost inspired Matthew to use the preposition IN rather than the KJV WITH and i provided the Greek.

Some feel comfortable with WITH THE HOLY GHOST i do not.

According to the text of the original language I am IN the Holy Ghost presently and eternally.

    Thank You Jesus.
