I don't personally know of one person who has ever changed their view because of the debates on the C/A forum.

Does this forum serve a purpose or just promote anger?

What Scriptural Doctrine has not promoted anger among men?

Come on all you free-willers, your choice is at stake here; we calvinists can't do anything, our mouths are closed and our hands are tied, we must only humbly submit to the Will of God, but you guys, you can excercise your freedom of choice, so get in their and make your choice known before it's everlasting too late [IMG] , Never mind that you believed, therefore you spoke, just make your decision now while the C/A forum is calling... ;)

Actually looking at some of the other debate forums on BB, we discuss basically the same stuff. They even bring up the Calvinist and arminian views. And I see tempers flare there too.

And I honestly do not mean this to be ugly but it may not be meant for you to know who benefits from this forum. But the person who does benefit, knows.

Oh and I have never been angered from anything on here. I have been disappointed by some attitudes. But God spares me from the anger.

    sincerely,
    Here Now

Actually, there have been a couple people that have changed views and a couple that are honestly considering Biblical, orthodox Christianity. So this forum has it's worth.

    here now,

I think you bring up some good points.

It is a pleasure to read your posts!

Seeds are planted even when we don't see them.

    We have purpose!

I have been angry many times.

I hope that people know my being angry does not mean I hate them.

I even get angry at myself!

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

"In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.

    God bless you! KJB [IMG]

I cannot help wondering why those who think that nothing is accomplished by this forum and that it should be closed would even read it.

Well, the Calvinists are obviously predestinated to read it; so that leaves only one possibility for the Arminian...

Well my FREE WILL allows me to say I think this forum is about as counterproductive as the political forum was in October.

    People do not have free-will.

    People have will.

The word free modifies the word will.

God bless you [IMG] and regards, KJB

What we're actually doing is encouraging ourselves NOT to change our minds. If one of our co-believers wavers, we prop him up with an old argument from Fletcher or Owen.

Luther once said something like "I have always been glad that I went to Rome. Had I never seen it, I might have wondered sometimes if I were being too hard on the Pope. But as it is, I am quite satisfied about the matter."

And I shall always be glad that I read this forum.

    free will
    n.
The ability or discretion to choose; free choice: chose to remain behind of my own free will.
The power of making free choices that are unconstrained by external circumstances or by an agency such as fate or divine will.

If you feel that way, then why do you come here?

Truth? Because I see things in Today's Active Topics that I fear will mislead or confuse new Christians and I feel I must say something.

Like Timtoolman said, Calvinists are probably only about 25% ... and I'll add, tend to make a lot of noise about their beliefs.

Now that we know what free-will and free-choice is, may I ask how you know you have them!

Are you able to see all powers and forces that exist?

Are you certain that there are no forces or powers influencing or affecting your will...your choices?

    How would you know?

Can you see and know such things?

For a person to claim "I have free-will" they would have to be aware of every cause in the universe......they would have to be like some sort of all knowing being.

The most a person could honestly say on their own is "I am not sure if there exists anything affecting my will or not" .....at least then we have honesty!

I can provide substantial portions of Scripture showing people do not have free-will.

Here are a few, I can provide many more if needed.

    Numbers 24:10-13

King Balak flew into a rage against Balaam. He angrily clapped his hands and shouted, "I called you to curse my enemies! Instead, you have blessed them three times. Now get out of here! Go back home! I had planned to reward you richly, but the LORD has kept you from your reward." Balaam told Balak, "Don't you remember what I told your messengers? I said, `Even if Balak were to give me a palace filled with silver and gold, I am powerless to do anything against the will of the LORD.' I told you that I could say only what the LORD says!

    Here is another;

    2 Chronicles 36:17

So the LORD brought the king of Babylon against them. The Babylonians killed Judah's young men, even chasing after them into the Temple. They had no pity on the people, killing both young and old, men and women, healthy and sick. God handed them all over to Nebuchadnezzar.

    And another;

    James 4 says,

Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil.

Yup...God is Sovereign and rules over men and angels. The wills of all creatures belong to God!

God bless you! [IMG] Regards, KJB

why not just close BB altogether? We talk about Calvinism all the time on my board and no one seems to get out of hand. i have mentioned it before and other have echoed it- if you name a forum 'ANYTHING VS. ANYTHING' you are going to have people in each group pitted against each other. no good can result.

this forum should be called 'discussing election' or something similar.
