Is Drinking, Smoking, and Dipping a Sin

I don't smoke, drink, or chew, and don't look down my nose at folks who do. :wavey:

 

I haven't twisted any words, HoG. I have accepted what is in scripture. You, on the other hand, need a two page "explanation" of what scripture really meant to say, complete with paraphrases & suppositions.

Like dan E said, perhaps it isn't so clear.

I think whats more harmful than drinking the alcohol is the arrogance and ugliness on this thread. Some of you folks ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

I stated before, my KJV study bible translates "vinegar" as sour wine.

And if it is a KJV study Bible, it should tell you He refused to drink the vinegar

 

as to the OP, if it doesnt honor Christ, then it shouldnt be done, but that could go for just about everything, including arrogance.

Of course he refused the vinegar. They were mocking Him. It wasnt because it was fermented.

Why would the pharisees call Jesus a winebibber if he didn't drink wine?

 

Matthew records that Jesus only tasted the vinegar. and He refused to drink it. Since the Bible does not contradict itself, Jesus did not drink it when He received it, He only tasted it.

 

OK, so it's a sin to look at it, but not taste it ?

 

They were accusing Him falsely, Billy. Look at His answer to them...

"But wisdom is justified of her children"

They first accused John the Baptist, then the accusations were toward Jesus, then He Himself refuted what they accused Him of.
