is Huckabee America's hope

Be ready to receive opposition from several here who are vehemently against him to be the next president.

 

You are correct. There are those here who would not vote for Huckabee, I for one would have difficulty in doing so.

 

Since Huckabee wasn't Arkansas's hope he sure isn't America's hope.

 

While I am looking at Huckabee hard I've as yet to make up my mind on any candidate save for Rudy, Fred or McCain(too much flip-flopping in these 3 camps for me). Alan Keys looks good also however I know that he is a long shot. Still on the list for me is Ron Paul or any of the lower tier candidates.
I do shy away from any candidate as being "America's Hope".

I'm curious why you think Thompson is a flip flopper. I haven't always agreed with him but I've never thought of him as anything other than a consistent conservative.

 

Maybe it was unfair to rank him as a flip flopper. It was actually Romney I wanted to edit in and Fred out but time ran out before I could do the edit of my post.

Well, for what it's worth, Huckabee is my current hope, but it's still early. I partially thank KenH for that.

No politician is "America's hope"

 

As a former music teacher, I like what he has to say about education. This is an excerpt from his website:

• I believe that every child should have the opportunity for a quality education that teaches the fundamental skills needed to compete in a global economy.
• Music and the arts are not extraneous, extra-curricular, or expendable - I believe they are essential. I want to provide every child these "Weapons of Mass Instruction."
• Our future economy depends on a creative generation.
• We need to judge the success of our schools by the results we obtain, not the revenue we spend.
• Test scores rose dramatically when I was Governor of Arkansas because of my education reforms.
• I have been a strong, consistent supporter of the rights of parents to home school their children, of creating more charter schools, and of public school choice.
• We need a clear distinction between federal and state roles in education. While there is value in the "No Child Left Behind" law's effort to set high standards, states must be allowed to develop their own benchmarks.

It is crucial that children flex both the left and right sides of the brain. Music has always been an important part of my life. I still play bass guitar in my band, Capitol Offense.
As Governor of Arkansas, I undertook several initiatives to encourage arts in education. I passed landmark legislation to provide music and art instruction by certified teachers for all Arkansas children in grades one through six, forty minutes a week. As Chairman of the Education and Arts Commission of the States, I created a two-year initiative called "The Arts - A Lifetime of Learning," which promotes the benefits of arts education to all fifty states.
Students with strong art and music programs have higher academic achievement overall, are far more likely to read for pleasure and participate in community service, and are less likely to engage in delinquent behavior. These programs have a powerful effect in leveling the academic playing field for students from lower socio-economic backgrounds. The study of music improves math scores, spatial reasoning and abstract thinking.

This is the way I see Huckabee now. If he were the Republican nominee, I would vote for him. If Giuliani or Romney gets the nomination, its third party for me.

 

What is it about this candidate's views do you

like and dislike?

Does it matter to you that he a Christian or should be a particular Baptist? Should he be a Calvinist or non-Calvinist, pre,mid or post- tribulation,open or closed communion.

What I trying to say is : What view(s) do you believe Mike Huckabee should have before you would consider voting for him at the next US president? Or what reason(s) you would not vote for him?

 

Being a Canadian who spends his time in Australia, my opinion means nothing. But I've been following this coming US presidential race more than any other political race in my lifetime and it has been a facinating one.

From the little I have seen of Huckabee, I would put him #2 behind Obama as candidates I would like to see as president. For star power, Hillary vs. Guliani would be unbeatable. But for likeable eloquent men of character who I think will be strong leaders for the US, a Huckabee vs. Obama showdown is the way to go.

 

Unfortunately, we all tend to get caught up in Israel's folly of "looking at the external", as in the case of Saul, rather than letting God lead us.

How do you overcome this deficiency? I don't really know, but I am trying to, this election, but it's hard to ignore all the "chatter" going on and dismiss the effects of same.

I let the fact of GWB's being a born again believer sway me twice, and I still consider that a strong factor, but that is certainly not the only factor for consideration for the next leader of the free world.

AMEN!!! It's sad that everyone looks to man, and this in a "Christian" forum. Keep in mind one day the Antichrist will also be seen as the only "hope".

 

I agree with you. However, christians are salt of the earth. One of the reasons why this world is being restrain from total corruption is because there are christians who continue to make a difference.

So if christians are in great position of influence it will make a lot of difference.

But our greatest hope is in Jesus Christ who will someday take the government upon his shoulder. And so there will be perfect peace and prosperity in that blessed day.
