Is it a sin to sit and eat........

They eat with me and don't have any issues...

 

If it is a sin then I sin every time I get together with some of my friends or most of my family.

 

No. Jesus did it, and did it all the time. He did it so frequently, the religious folks accused him of being a glutton and drunkard.

The reasons Jesus dines with the sinnser had a cultural importance. In Jesus' day, when you dined with someone, you were calling that person your equal. Jesus knew this when he chose to dine with the people he dined with.

 

My mother told me that, when she was in college, she was part of a summer revival team. They stayed in homes. She said that they ate fried chicken every day but one for three weeks. The exception was when they passed through her home town. Her mother asked her what they would like to have for dinner. You can probably guess her response:

Anything but fried chicken!!!

I do realize there are a few people on this board who think they are without sin, but for most of us, we couldn't even dine alone. :laugh:

I noticed some time ago that eating with sinners made my sandwich at lunch spoil before noon. Now, I take my sack lunch and sit by the statue of St. Mary, with no problems. You all do not know how lonely it gets carrying the perfection torch.
