You got me. I have no idea. I frequently misspell words. I never new I was such a bad speller until I got internet.

I myself don't agree with tattoos. My youngest sone has been wanting one(he's 19) I keep insisting, NO!, I'm not sure how long I can held him off, he thinks it's alright if no on can see it. I say we'll know it's there, and God will know it's there.

We must remember that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Tattoos are a social thing, and may be respectful of the body today, and disrespectful of the body tomorrow.

I would have to say a big on the fence "probably not, it would depend on where and what it is".

Think of infant male circumcision. We used to do it for cultural reasons. Now more and more are opting not to, because more and more people feel it's barbaric. It's falling out of social favor, except where religious traditions are concerned.

If someone were to ask me which is worse, a tattoo or circumcision, I'd have to say circumcision.

I don't think having a tattoo would keep a person out of heaven. I mean, if you have one before you get saved, what can you do about it? But after a person is saved I believe they shouldn't get one. Their body is the temple of the Lord, not to be defiled. Same goes for all those body piercings.

I was recently shown this scripture.

Lev 19:28 "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord." NIV

and for those who like only KJV "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord."

So my feeling is if you got a tattoo before you were a christian then you will still go to heaven but I would refrain from getting any more tattoos.

I think tattooing is unwise; how in the world can you know if you (or a spouse [IMG] will like the dreadful thing in a few years?

But as a biblical injunction? While we are to be temples, it's not clear to me that tattooing is defiling.

As to the levitical injunction quoted above, the previous verse says:
Is that a valid injunction against shaving or getting a haircut?

I don't have any moral problems with tattoos, but I wouldn't get one, myself.

In 1 Thess. 4:4 Paul told us that we must learn to possess our bodies in sanctification and honour. (No, that's not limited to just sexual purity.)

How are tattoos conducive to sanctification and honour?

Well, my opinion on this matter has been dealt a blow today. I would have said that tattoo's don't bring honor to God. Also, my quote from Lev. wasn't meant to infer that I believe that tatoo's were a sin and, therefore, forbidden. I met a man today who has had a colorful to say the least. He is a preacher for a church of motorcycle riders. His tattoos are all about Jesus and his ministry. His whole body depicts scenes from the bible. It was amazing and very uplifting to say the least.

Would this apply to earrings that women wear. If that is acceptable, would women be allowed to also pierce their nose or eyebrow? If not what is the difference.

This is a question that i ould love to get a definate answer for due to the fact that i would want one but my father says no. So if anyone could get a definate yes or no with more than one bible verse that would be cool. The Leviticus verse just doesnt do it for me do to the fact that there are so many other things above that are not concidered a sin by Christians today for example "do not wear clothng woven of two kinds of material" .Ya so i would love it if i could get a really good answer.

    Thanks and God bless

Sorry, Dude. If Pop says no then God does not want SorryDude to have a tattoo.

God wants you to honour your father.

I have two tattoos. One on each ankle oh flowers.

When I got them both it was a time in my life I was openly rebelling against God. The holy time consideing and getting them Romans 12:1-2 ran thru my mind and heart.

I think if your going to get one you got to make that your choice. Just ask one thing thou, How is this going to affect my testimony or Christ? If you do not think it matters then go for it. If you think it matters then do not do it.

And thats why i would never get one without convinceing him that it really isnt as bad as he thinks it is. If the bible gives a definite NO as well then it will be the end of it.But if it says YES then i will try to show him that its not really bad. I've tried looking for it myself with but i dont know where to begin. So ya, pointers would be much apperciated.

    Thanks again

Hey, your Dad is a lucky man. You sound like a great Kid.

I've seen some great tatoos that God has placed on people before. Some folks call them birthmarks. God can't be locked out of a person's body, heart, and mind by any superfical marks, scars, moles, much less tatoos. I hope you find what you are looking for. While a verse may be hard to find, a biblical principle may work just as well or even better sometimes. Seek and ye shall find.

If we're to take leviticus literally, then males should not be circumcised, and women (and men)should not get their ears pierced.

If take it more literally, women should not wear makeup or paint their nails as well, since these are all forms of pagan body adorment.

Sounds funny, I'm sure, but there are planty of churches that forbid their women from wearing makeup.

My view to reiterate, as long as we think it's okay to circumcise males, then tattoos should be allowed as well.

i have four tatoos. I have the word YHWH on my left forearm in hebrew and the word sanctuary on my right arm in hebrew. I have the trinity symbol on my left upper arm and a cross in a crown of thorns on my right upper arm. I have prayed about each tatoo before I got it and feel no conviction about it. I dont think of the tatoos as destroying the temple, more like putting on a stain glass window. Also I have been able to witness so much more because people are aleayse asking about them. Im like a walking tract.
