Then stop dancing and deal with the Text.

When God opened their eyes, in what spiritual state where they in?
If in the light, they why the need to turn FROM darkness AND the power of Satan TO God for forgiveness.

If God opened their eyes, and their spiritual state is still IN darkness (as the scripture states) then they are not regenerate like the reformed view declares they have to be.

Same with the other verse.. One can not be a slave if one is set free through a new nature. If a slave WHEN they were CALLED.. in what spiritual state were they in when God was Calling them to repentance

I agree with you Allan. A similar verse is John 8:32.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

A person is shown the truth while they are in bondage, it is this knowledge given them while still in bondage that will make them free. And what is this bondage Jesus is speaking of in this context? Sin, for in vs. 34 Jesus says whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

So, these persons know the truth while in bondage to sin (and the wages of sin is death), and this knowledge of truth will make them free from this bondage.

And maybe a little off topic, but some teach that death brings forth sin, but the scriptures say sin brings forth death (Jam 1:15).

I still scratch my head when people state that babies are born sinners. What sin(s) have they committed to be named thusly?

Look, here is the problem. There are two men the bible speaks about, the "inner" man, and the "outer" man. If you will study this out, Brother, and find where each of them comes from, you will see my point, and not the one on top o' my head!!!:tongue3::smilewinkgrin:

    Hello convicted1

    You asked........
They have not committed any sins, yet they are sinners because they are human beings; (Adam & Eve sinned, as soon as they had the chance.)
And as soon as children know what sin is, they will commit it.

But as children, they are innocent and go to heaven if they die.

So, regeneration means nothing! What makes children exempt from Adamic original sin?

And, if I could humanly avoid sin from infancy and the magical age of redemption, I would have no need of Jesus' redemptive act on the cross.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I disagree. Romans 9:11 says Esau and Jacob had done neither good or evil. So, if they would have died in the womb without sin, would they still need Jesus? Yes, for two reasons.

#1 Children are flesh, and all flesh is under the curse. This is why we physically die. Jesus became a curse for us and redeemed us from the curse.

#2 While children have no sin, neither do they have righteousness, they have also done no good.

Do you remember when Jesus told the people that unless their righteousness exceeded that of the scribes and Pharisees they could in no case enter the kingdom?

So, righteousness is required to be saved. Children have done no evil, but they have neither done good.

    Hi Jim

    You said........
    Yes, regeneration is needed, for those who are Spiritually dead;
But innocent children, are not dead yet............
    Romans 7:9-11
V.9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
V.10 And the commandment, which [was ordained] to life, I found [to be] unto death.
V.11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew [me].

    Hi Winman

    You quoted Jesus........
You are right, children(anyone), needs Jesus to enter the kingdom.
Therefore children will not be part of the kingdom or the bride of Christ, yet they will be in heaven.

Just as Old Testament Jews, will be in heaven.
