Are we really in the last days of the church? I know no man knoweth the day or hour but people really seem to think we are close to the end.

Every generation has thought this as well. I keep hearing 2012 as a rough time of the rapture.

Are the times right? Are we really that close?

    What do you think?

I personally believe that the rapture will happen in my lifetime (I'm 48). Could I be wrong? Sure (and it wouldn't be the first time). And if I'm wrong, that's OK. I'm convinced that either way, I'm headed for heaven!

It's not that I'm trying to set dates or anything like that, I just believe it's going to happen soon.

I have been hearing that we are in the last days all my life (39 years). To tell you the truth I am really burned out about it and think it is all junk. Could we be in the last days? Sure we could. I believe Jesus is coming again and it could be today. Or, just as likely it could be another thousand years.

I remember hearing preachers set dates many times. Don’t ever do that, your setting yourself up to fail. Remember how many cult groups have done the same thing. Here is the question I would ask, why do you think we are in the last days? Is that reason based on sound Biblical principles and is that reason any stronger than the Biblical principles used to predict the return of Christ at other times that proved to be incorrect?

    Watch!

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father"(Matthew 24:36 NIV). Read on through verse 51.

"No one knows.....What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!'"(Mark 13:32-37 NIV)

It is not a matter of Calculation, but preparation. We should live as though Jesus' return could be; not next year; not next month; not next week; but in the next minute! Paul is a perfect example of this. The Apostle Paul spent his life looking for the return of Jesus Christ, but as he neared the end of his life, he realized that Christ might not return in his lifetime. But, what was his attitude, even after his life of service to the Lord?
"For I am being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race , I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."(2 Timothy 4:6-8 NIV)

Everything my wife and I see around us tells us His return is imminent. We live in a generation where prophecy is unfolding before our very eyes. We feel He could return in our lifetime, but regardless, we will stay the course until our last breath. We will simply continue to prepare. I recommend reading, "Living for Christ in the End Times" by Dr. David Reagan. He is the founder and evangelist for "Lamb and Lion Ministries." Just type the name in for his website. He has dedicated his life to eschatology. His reasoning is always backed with Scripture in context with Scripture. It is because of this that our reasons for believing we are in the end times echo his. You will find a plethara of information about the "End Times" on his site.

The Bible says the "last days" were 2000 years ago. The Bible says the "end" was close 2000 years ago. The Bible says the Church has no end.

In Matthew 24 and the parallel in Luke, Jesus tells us that the generation which sees the beginning signs will see the end. The beginning was when the Jews regained a state in the world again -- in 1948, when Israel became a nation for the first time in several thousand years. Unexpected, historically almost impossible, but it happened.

I was born that year. Jerusalem was taken back in 1967.

We are told we will not know the day or hour, but that we are expected to know the season.

    This is the season.
