OK, first let me admit that I have always been a history geek. My main interest has always been Classical and Medieval history, but I do read a bit about other areas as well. I explain this to say that I see events taking place in the US that remind me very much of Ancient Rome.

When our Republic was founded, one of the models used was the Roman Republic. If you know anything about Roman history, you know that the Republic transformed from a simple system based on hard work and basic values to a complex and huge government under control of a class of ruling families.

Like Rome, I think the US government may be so large and so complex that is is beyond our ability to manage it any longer. At the same time we have lost the moral rudder that once guided us as a nation.

I believe that very soon the US will either undergo a radical transformation or it will collapse.

    What are your thoughts?

All my life, I have heard people making parallels between the US and the Roman Empire. I don't think that means we end up the same way, but I do believe it is possible. It could be that democratic systems, even of a republican representative variety, have a finite lifespan. Already, I doubt the founding fathers would recognize how their experiment in self government has evolved and metamorphosed over the last two centuries. Not just from the difference between an agrarian society to a technologically advanced one; but in how power has been concentrated in the hands of the corporations, the military-industrial complex, and others who have to power to use the levers of power to enrich themselves at the expense of the nation as a whole. I do believe that unless we make some dramatic changes, this nation will not be the reigning superpower in 100 years. I heard today that we are 17th in broadband access, down from 4th. Our jobs are sent to developing countries, and the American worker now competes with slaves in Communist regimes for wages. They have killed the goose that laid the golden egg. Change will occur, but the transition may not be pretty. You pose a very good question.

If God where to place a curse on this nation, we will have earned it.

Murder is against the law, except for legal baby extermination by their mothers. Hedonism run amuck. Homosexuality is promoted as being acceptable....and even celebrated out in the open. Bible believing christians are marginalized and silenced. The stripping of the 10 commandments from buildings all over the land.

On and on and on it goes.

    How long we God relent?

That is so very true. If we look back at all of the wicked and evil cultures that have gone before us, Sodom, Babylon, Rome and so on, we are as bad as any and perhaps worse than most.

Unless something drastic happens, what we now call the United States will eventually just be a province of the central world government. Economically speaking, it already is that.

Could it be that Rachael is weeping for her children and will not be conforted because they are not?
This is mentioned two times in the Bible.

Righteousness exalteth a nation. As soon as her cup of iniquity is full, it's bye-bye birdie. The birth pangs started long ago. Obama is just one jewel in the crown of a great harlot.

    Yes, we're in trouble.

    Morally--obvious, has been touched on.
Fiscally--once a majority of Americans figure out how to get themselves on the public trough and vote themselves pay raises, we're bankrupt for sure.
Defense--Radical Islam will be the next worldwide global conflict. We're not ready to really fight that war.

    I'm praying, and fervently so.

Did this new President steal himself into office, or was he officially elected by the American people? I get the impression that he is there by stealth!!!

Why not accept the fact he was elected, he is there, and get behind him in prayer instead of just calling him all kinds of names and denigrations?

    Cheers,

    Jim

I do not know anyone who has not accepted him. But his evil agenda cannot be supported under any circumstances. But then I wonder how many times you encouraged Americans to get behind Bush.

You find his agenda, as you understand it evil. I am not sure it is his agenda or one you have decided is his agenda. It is far too early to make such judgements with accuracy. Give him several years and then make a judgement. That is what I did with the just past president. That is what I am doing with Obama. Be not too quick to condemn or to praise. Sit back and watch, read, learn and think. Keep an Obama journal and see where it leads you.

No use spouting democratic talking points to me. He is evil as he wants unborn children slaughtered so that fathers daughters do not have to be punished with a mistake. He wants homosexuals to have a prominent place in our society. He wants to take from one person and give it to someone else. He wants population control and to destroy the American economy with heavy regs based on alie. These things are evil and we do not need to wait to see them happen. Then it would all be to late. We need to fight his ungodly agenda now. Not in two years after it has been put into place. Who is it that you think you are fooling?

You had an accelerated abortion rate long before Mr. Obama or Mr.Bush. Homosexuals are Americans too. I thought you believed in equal rights?

I didn't know that a fundamental Christian agenda was a prerequisite to being American. I remember not too long ago when Christians tried to deny certain citizens of their rights too!

    Cheers,

    Jim

He told us what his agenda would be:
    1) $ (redistribute the wealth),
    2) Foreign policy - (I'll talk to Iran {et al} with no pre-conditions),
    3) abortion - repeal the ban on PB abortions & $ to foreign abortions, etc., etc !!

What's to guess about his agenda?

As to the bolded in the quote, this is like watching the fuse on a stick of dynamite debating whether it's REALLY gonna go BOOM or just pop; by the time the answer is obvious, it's too late to prevent.

    So practice what you preach:
    "Sit back"
(optional, remainder essential) "and watch, read, learn and think"

    Irrelevent

    Homosexuals have equal rights already

Biblical principles are what this country was founded on. Those of us who actually still fear God and do not live dual lives will continue to fight for them.

Quote: Funk and Wagnalls New Standard Dictionary (1952) includes in the definition of Deist: "One who believes in God but denies supernatural revelation." There is no question Jefferson rejected the Bible as divine revelation and rejected the divinity of Jesus. In the Declaration of Independence Jefferson's appeal was to the God of the Deist, "Nature's God," not specifically to the God of Christianity (see letter dated Sep. 14, 1813, to Jefferson from John Adams equating "Nature's God" with "the revelation from nature").

    Cheers,

Jim, you are correct. Also, the fathers of our country were greatly influenced by the philosophers of the French Enlightenment. Most of the citizens of the US do not know that and are not taught this fact.

Also, we are not taught that without the French the US would never have won the Revolutionary War.

    Have a blessed day.

That's not a fact. That's a lie. Anyone who has studied it says that John Calvin is the father of this nation.
