You are entitled to you opinion. The problem is that the Iraqi's aren't quite as easy to train as was first expected, but they are catching on.

You are right that more troops will not help (imho).

I don't think it is very fair to the people who live in Iraq and are trying to make it a decent country to be linked with ancient peoples of the locality. As a matter of fact Babylon is not Iraq, Babylon was located a short distance from present day Baghdad. (During biblical times we had city-states instead of countries divided by boarders--for example Rome was a city-state that controlled a big empire, but really didn't claim the land "as such".

Most of the soldiers that I talk to in Iraq (usually on a daily basis) are glad they are there; have made great friends with many Iraqi families and feel that the Iraqis they are in contact with want their help; very much unlike the news CNN likes to show where a few thousand "imports" walk around with signs wanting the US out of the Middle East.

The big issue is that we are not wanted in the ENTIRE area by extremists, because we are putting a big crimp in their attacks in Europe and America. The BIG problem is extremist Muslims who will kill their own kind to push their beliefs off on us. While most of the Iraqis we deal with are extremely thankful and very nice people to deal with; and the good ones are usually well educated (usually much better than American young people of the same age).

Just remember, suicide bombing is a self-limiting action. You can only do it once.

In general, though, as I say, we each talk to Iraqis on an almost daily basis and they are very intelligent and very thankful people; but, the extremist Muslims can sure put on a big show when CNN starts their cameras spinning. I think we should continue training the Iraqis who want a decent government and pulling the plug before this is accomplished will only make them feel "let down" by the country they give thanks to daily for getting them from under the tyranny of Mr. Hussein.

Oh, SORRY, THis thing was closed. I guess as a moderator I can still post. That's not fair to others. To make this fair, instead of erasing all that I wrote I will make an offer that anybody else who wants to continue this please feel free to open a new thread. You have the right to do that anyway. Poncho, in response to your statement that is totally off the subject, there just isn't anything to point to an attack and although I used to think it was possible I have only heard this story from one single young sailor who claims to be on the carrier, which, after research, I found was nowhere near where he said they were when it happened. So, therefore, I just don't have any belief and don't know what happened to the jet. It is more likely that it lost control and CRASHED. Otherwise there would be signs of a missile attack. Feel free to open a thread on this one too if you wish, but even with this closed, its still off the subject.
