Is the US any worse than secular Israel? With Tel Aviv slated as the new gay travel destination, and all of its new age stuff. The whole world constitutes babylon at this point.

Not that strange considering that a couple of Brits invented it.

Fair enough, but how many cities do you know built on seven hills have actually ruled over THE KINGS of the earth and are envisioned as doing it again?

We can't read Revelation outside of Daniel. We have to study Daniel's last beast, and how it reappears in Revelation. The last beast was the Roman iron Empire

We have to understand that the elements found at the first coming will be found at the second.

When Christ first came, Rome ruled the world and Jerusalem
When Christ returns, Rome will be ruling the world and Jerusalem

When Christ first came, the Jews were in the land, When Christ returns, the Jews will be in the land

First time though, he came as a lamb and servant, second time around he is Lion of the Tribe of Judah and King of Kings; and make no mistake about it he will repay Rome sevenfold.

The greatness of the States and Great-Britain does not fit them within the Bible's MAIN interest with gentile powers who always seek to rule/destroy the Jews. Their greatness is an historical anomaly due to the fact that they humbled themselves before the God of the Bible. These are still more or less blessed due to a faithful few. Certainly they have left the true God today, and the future does not bode well.

Revelation 17's many elements can only fit with Rome. This many have seen and believed across centuries. I recommend "A Woman Rides the Beast" by Dave Hunt.

We are bible-believers, we should be better students of biblical prophecy.

The last beast was the Roman iron Empire

Yet the US/European civilization is essentially Roman, we rule over many waters, we dominate commerce, we slaughter our children by the millions, and we turn our back on God more and more each day. The Bible has some examples of situations that fit at different times, so again, I wonder why it is that Babylon can't be Rome AND the United State/Europe, at the same time?

Even Hitler didn't kill 47 millions...

None actually. Well it's obvious that the text is talking about Rome as the capital of the Roman Empire.
But the Roman Empire in reality only ruled over the kingdoms surrounding the mediterranean.
Anyway, for the endtimes thing we are apparently looking for the heir of the Roman Empire.
The candidates can start lining up.
The Roman Empire split in 2.

The Western half swiftly crumbled and in a general sense has Western Civilization and it's components as it's heir.

The Eastern half dragged on for a thousand years before falling. Leaving among other things Islam and Eastern-Orthodoxy as heirs.
Russian Orthodoxy for one sees Moscow as the third Rome....

    Don't know for sure, John.

I'm as Biblicist as they come but since it's eschatology, history, current events, etc., I've never asked him and I've corresponded with him for some time now. I've never had any hint that he is not orthodox, I can say that. He might be somewhat liberal but I don't even know that for sure, that's just guessing. I have discussed some deep theological questions with him at some length and found him to be knowledgable and even helpful, and consider him a brother and good friend.

To deal effectively on the cutting-edge of his subject naturally leads him into places I wouldn't want to go - occult, astronomy, conspiracy, etc. - but I have always found him to be balanced and objective.

What I like about Peter's eschatology is he doesn't FORCE the scriptures into any system or idea, but lets them fall as they are written.

And I really like his timeline, which I believe is a most valuable contribution to eschatology.

Thanks, IveyLeaguer. Sometimes it's hard to tell on the Internet. I had a hard time from his website figuring out exactly what he is, but it is fascinating.

Some say the US is Bibical Israel.

Some say the US is Biblical Babylon.

    Can we be both?
Can we be one or the other?
    Can we be neither?

    Biblical Israel???

Arguably the church is the inheritor of the promises and therefore could be considered biblical Israel, but the U.S.? This makes no sense to me.

Babylon could be a country, or the unsaved world in general. I think a case could be made either way, but if a country, then the U.S. is the latest and greatest empire out there right now and has deteriorated spiritually at an alarming rate (but so has the rest of the world as well, so  ), so it is a good candidate, I think.
