    Touch a nerve?

Your over the top response says so.

You really should calm down. Prayer would probably help and it's not against BB rules like supporting sin is.;)

    Difference between conservative and liberal--

A lot has been posted since I first posted -- too much to try and answer in the time I have but I'll try and answer the above.

Man had personal relationship with God but man failed in the Garden and man's nature became corrupt, died spiritually, and has lived under the curse ever since. All of God's dealings with man since is because of man's helplessly hopeless condition--that is hopeless without God's intervention.
After this man's conscience became active and man was given the opportunity to show that the law of God written in man's nature was sufficient to bring him back to God, but man again failed. There was no seeking after God and "every imagination of the thought of the heart was only evil continually," and man failed again to seek after God and his way of salvation. God then visited the world with judgment and only Noah and his house were saved.
After the flood God gave Noah instruction concerning human government. Murderers were to be executed which implies that all lesser functions of government were included. Man was to rule for God and man was to be directed by God through just and holy laws. Men made a federation and erected a tower for the purpose of idol worship, and man again failed. Men were scattered over the earth and a divided nation arose. Human government has never been repealed even though human government has not, and does not have God in their thinking anymore. Israel did include God but the forgot Him and and was judged several times and still suffering in their present state and will do so until "all Israel shall be saved. "
America's Founders did enter God into their thinking and based our Constitution and government on biblical principles. America did pretty well until the 20'th century. Bible and prayer have been throw out of schools and moving toward being thrown out of the public square. Any manifestation of our government having anything positive at all to do with Christianity is viewed as an unthinkable sin by liberals and the ignorant.
Sooooooooo-- Human government is a biblical concept but can be called a necessary evil because it was only instituted by God in an effort to try and control the limits and effects of man's sin nature. God determined the location, seasons, and boundaries of the nations ( Deut. 32:8 ; Acts 17:26 ) , and has ordained the rulers of nations ( Dan. 4:34f ; Rom 13:1f ) , and rulers were to recognize the sovereign rule of God and to seek and carry out His will ( Ps 3:10-12 ) .
Unfortunately there is no government today following God's plan for government.
For the most part, conservatives in America do recognize God while liberals do not. It's not a 100% with either, but as a voter we have to take the best of what we have and do our part to make it better ( help draw it inline with God's principles ) . We do that by voting in people that love God and who will rule with His principles in mind.

To check out what our Founders believed I would suggest using David Barton's site http://www.wallbuilders.com/ and especially this section http://www.wallbuilders.com/resources/search/detail.php?ResourceID=21 -- as he is recognized as the formost authority on our Founders, even by our government.

Someone said that politics has nothing to do with religion, or said something similar. My response is that our belief in God should effect every area of our lives, even who we vote for. I am a conservative because of God's principles. I can't support those who support abortion, the homosexual agenda, and secular humanism. Liberals support all of these. Oh, they may do some good here and there, but their foundation is based on that which supports mans eternal condemnation -- secular humanism and evolution.
We can avoid a lot of needless sorrow by voting in godly people. I believe one of the God-given stewardships of the Church is to help the governement under which they dwell to be as godly as possible. I believe we are responsible to God and future generations to vote in godly people. Our Founders understood this and there are many quotes in the Wallbuilder site made by the Founders that prove this.

David Barton is notorious for rewriting history. Whatever you get from him should be double-checked against the original.

I enjoy what liberals want to accomplish. They couldn't be more right. I do not however agree with how to accomplish that. They couldnt be more wrong.

And what liberal nonsense have you bought into? David Barton is recognized as the formost authority on America's Founders by conservative christianity. Even our Congress and Supreme Court calls on him when they want accurate history on the Founders and their original intent contained in the Constitution. They may not always use the info he gives them but they still use him for original intent. The reason they may not use his info is because too many of them wrongly believe the Constitution is a living, breathing, changing document.Try reading one of Barton's books "Original Intent" and see for yourself if he rewrites history or correctly lets history speak for itself.

Liberals usually discount everything conservatives say including conservative authorities on topics. They especially hate David Barton. It would be nice if some liberal some time would start a David Barton thread and point out all of his "inaccuracies" and history re-writing.

    LE,

I gotta get this straight . . . you are wanting to start a thread showing where David Barton is wrong.

    OK.

You expect that the starter will be a liberal.

So, I gotta ask: "Did you go liberal on me?"

PS - who is David what's his name.

What you called liberal was a philosophy over a century old at the time of the Revolution. Our Revolution was the ONLY true democracy that 'evolved' from the period of illuminism ('enlightenment') IMHO.

To claim that the philosophy (& and theology) that had matured over a period of more than a century, 'new' would be in MHO a misrepresentation of the theological currents of that era.

The era that produced our 'Revolution' began after the 'Glorious Revolution' in 1688. Naturally, the 'Glorious Revolution' was in itself the result of a long process . . .

During the era in question, most 'conservatives' considered our form of Government to be an evolution from within the conservative politic IMHO.

I would relate the evolution of conservatism of 1776 more closely to the compassionate conservative of today before I would relate the conservatives of 1776 to the liberals of today that killed the Hippocratic oath . . . IMHO.

I agree, start a new thread and prove your claims, or maybe I'll get it started and you can bring any proof you may be basing your claims upon.
