Any view of Jesus could change a person's life, but only ONE can regenerate that person as the way "change" is defined biblically.

Warren did leave this open and leaves one with only a vague view of just who changed him and into what.

Now you're splitting hairs. He did not say anything about how others viewed "their" Jesus, or how they viewing him from their perspective could change their life. Anyone who knows RW, or cares to learn about him will know exactly what he meant, pagan's and heretics included. The average person on the street knows what he meant...but it's strange that believers have this big cloud of "what did he mean?" hanging over them. Makes one wonder the reasons...

He would have simply prayed in the English he spoke in if his intention wasn't to address other religion's names and what they represent concerning His name.

    To the list of readers:

Another unfounded attack on the man's character. Salamander now has the spiritual gift of knowing the intentions of others :applause: As before, there will be those who arise to his defense that this is not "bashing"

Interesting thread. I hear people say RW is ecuminical and others say he is not. I don't recall anyone giving examples of the charge. Using other names for Jesus is not valid. The names used are not from other religions but other languages. If that makes him ecuminical the every missionary would be also.

If you visit the saddleback web site, you should get an answer yea or nea.

I think the issue with the Arabic name is that some know it is also the Muslim or Koranic name for Jesus, who is not the Biblical Jesus. That's the issue, imo.

I would just use the name "Jesus," which is the name I use in everyday speech.

Otherwise, why was it not said in multiple languages: German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.?

A Koran and Arabic bible also use the name Allah for God, but most western christian wouldn't believe it.

What do you mean by "they wouldn't believe it?"

Just that the folks in my neck of the woods would never allow anyone to call God Allah. If a preacher refers to the name Jehovah half of them think he's a JW.

Yes he was, however the use of the other languages can evidently be understood in more than one manner. You have taken it as an inclusion of other religions. I never saw a video, but when I read the transcript I took it as a way to make sure that all who were watching understood exactlly who's name he was praying in. To me it was one of the strongest points in the prayer, where you found it as one of the weakest. We do not know which one was the intent of RW. Goes to show that when you are in the public eye you can only please some.

I've read through all the RW threads and noticed that you are very much against RW and his message. You have the right to be so. I have read 3 of his books (THE PD LIFE is probably the weakest) and wonder what exactly do you object to. I am neither a RW supporter or detractor. If you can show me false teaching on his part I would like to know, because I have recommended a book of his to a coule of people.

If I'm in the U.S., I have no reason to call God "Allah" in a public prayer for a U.S. ceremony.
