Not that long ago, there was a thread about calling attention to the killing of overpopulated elephants (I don't recall what country). I'm a bit at a loss as to why a few of the posters in this thread piped up and said that killing the elephants was terrible, and here some of those same folks have no problem with the killing of seals.

Just so we're clear on the topic, I have no problem with either, but hope that it is done humanely. Aside from for reasons of vanity, I have no problem with the wearing of fur. Do I find the killing of seals and elephants repulsive? You bet. But immoral? Not in and of themselves.

My thanx to the Canadiens of years past, who discovered putting seal skins on their skis allowed them to travel uphill at a much faster pace than their boot-clad countrymen. That has sure added to my enjoyment of the Montana mountains.

Oh the inhumantiy of slaughter houses. I travel by several down through California and the smell is strong. I just know thousands of peaceful cows are being summarily, carelessly killed and rendered out for various products consumed by homosapiens, who, incedently don't give it a second thought.

I say boycot these horrible death sites and only order meat from a restuarant or market. I had a wonderful New York steak dinner on my birthday, but it came from a local market. ;) [IMG] [IMG]
