Many inconsistencies and unverified accusations and allegations in some of Chick's tracts. I do not condemn those using them; I personally have no use for them.

The whole style of bitter, vitriolic and harsh cartoons turns me way OFF and I would not use something that might offend an unbeliever. There is enough offense in the GOSPEL without adding crude comics to the pile.

Jack Chick tracts appeal to the ignorant, or the gullible. He makes Christianity sound like a Pyramid Marketing Scam. He uses theatrics, guilt, fear, and extortion via comic book characters to bring people into "joining" a group of like-minded people who should pass out his propaganda.

I have always had a problem with anyone coming to the Lord because of lies, or fear. I'm not doubting their faith or their saved status as much as feeling sorry for their lack of understanding. I wonder how someone brought to the Lord like that can love someone they have been forced into loving. Fearing the Lord because of his Greatness is not the same fear as from extortion.

Share Christ with others, don't leave Chick tracts in toilet stalls thinking that is going to satisfy the Great Commission.

Jack... please retire already, you're an embarrassment to the rest of us.

Jack Chick's books are thay true ?

I don't think "true" is the adjective I would use to describe them.

It is unfair to rubbish all of Chick's publications. Many of his tracts are eye catching and thought provoking to the lost. Our church does not use them, but recently a man started attending who was saved through reading the tract "This Was Your Life."

I really wasn't trying to debate his tracks but information I got from a book he wrote about the romain catholic church being involved with hitler to do away with the other churchs. Is this true? I personally don't care for what I have seen of his tracts.

As far as historical facts go... remember the winner gets to write history. This then becomes "the facts".

It's his "means" to a good end that bothers most people. No one questions the end, but some eye brows sure get raised about his "means".

    Warm Christian greetings!

I think it is rather unfair to dismiss all chick books per se. Some of them may be rather garish, and some may contain material that is offensive, but that does not mean they are all bad. There are many people who have come to the Lord through reading them.

    Kind regards

    Mickes,

The best use for Chick Tracts is to take the staples out and use them as toilet paper.

So far, everything that I've seen in a Jack Chick tract is true.

Can someone show me what's wrong with one (example).

    Smoke_Eater, the altar is open.

Jack Chick is to Christianity what Erik Von Daniken was to the Pyramids of Egypt.

Among other things, their slanderous characatures of gays and Catholics.

They're heavy handed to the point of self parody and they always draw non-Christians as persecuting Christians as though they're a part of some sort of unspoken plot.

I still hold to my belief that Chick tracts are put out by the Landover Baptist people.

Maybe in a Mario Puzo novel, but that's about it.

I'm sure Catholics said the same thing during the Crusades or the Inquisitions. It may have been offensive and harsh, but many came to the Lord. This underscores my example of the end doesn't justify the means.

These are just products being hawked to teenagers or newbie Christians. Just as recruiting tapes are sold to new network marketers. While some may come to the Lord, how many are pushed away because of them?

The whole look and sound of them remind me of J.Witness's literature. $$$ Maker! I bet Jack's living high on the hog. :(

Jack also seems to have an "agenda" with his broadsides.

Anti Catholic - btw, a GREAT DEAL of the material in that tract is unfit for christian consumption. Simply distorted and half-truths. Sort of like giving the Archbishop in Massachusetts the right to print "A History of Baptists". Think that it might be a little biased or stretching the facts?

    Anti Gay

Anti Modern Versions - Jack is rabidly KJVonly cult and it is often reflect again in the distortions and half-truths.

There is so much wrong with them that I would say the negative far overwhelms the positive impact they have had.

Are they popular in Britain? Many of the positive comments thus far seem to have come from across the pond. Just curious.

I have seen them here but I haven't been to a church that hands them out or explictly advocates their use.

Jack Chick is quite a good artist but the historical accuracy of his works is highly contentious - in fact they are aften a-historical in that they will take events from history and then embellish them with a good dose of conspiracy. Also in most of his tracts the people getting saved seem to have never even heard of God or Jesus - that seems highly implausible to me....

    Warm Christian greetings!

I was deeply disturbed to read the vulgar comment of Mike Mk concerning Chick books and toilet paper. If people wish to criticize chick books then that is all well and good, we learn from one another when having a reasoned debate; however, the comments made by this person had nothing to do with sensible debate, they were plain vulgar and I would respectfully ask the moderator to delete that particular post.

    Kind regards

You're right. Those comments were disrespectful and completely uncalled for.

I'd like to offer my sincere apologies to Mr. Whipple for associating his fine product with Jack Chick.
