I looked around for awhile on that forum and couldn't really find any "scandals" "sordid affairs" or "cover-ups" of any substance. Could you provide an example please?

Jefferson - About a month ago, the FFF changed from its tie to Jack Hyles website and the daily fighting about it. Now it is seldom mentioned.

There is (at the same site) http://fundamentalistforums.com/bforum.mv a forum about Hyles college. Some of the folks there are alum, attend FBCHammond and might help you.

p.s. You didn't miss much. One of the Hyles-is-God worshipers spammed the Webmaster with homo stuff. Ugly time. That's why the FFF had to make a clean break and get away from the lunacy.

Don't hold your breath,Dr. Bob! Discussion on the FFF has always had a tendency to come in waves, and I predict that the topic is far from dead, even at this new site.

    What sin?

My assistant pastor gives me Hyles tapes to listen to all the time and I really enjoy them. But I'd also really like to know what everyone is talking about here. All these references to Hyles' "sins" "scandals" "sordid affairs" "cover-ups" etc., without even so much as one example provided.

The only sinning I see on this thread is the sin of gossip by the posters.

Dr. Voyle Glover, a well respected lawyer who was once a part of the the Hyles empire, has written a book on the subject. It is certainly not all-inclusive since there was so much filth and overt/covert sin that it is absolutely shocking.

I have vowed not to discuss this, but simply say to you that you must research this out carefully and with an open mind (like a juror weighing evidence). Many people cannot do that; they immediately jump to defend or condemn.

And by private email I will share the small part I know. I was in Dallas when all of the problems with his immorality and abadonment of his family broke. Eyewitness news.

    O.K., I found a lot of evidence at http://www.rapidnet.com/~jbeard/bdm/exposes/hyles/sin.htm

This is the first I've heard of any of this. I believe it to be true and I'm stunned and heart-broken. But I do have a question. It seems to me that there are many people who are "rejoicing in iniquity" in Hyles' case. Why is this?

OK, if you appeal to the law then you must also obey the following...

KJV Deuteronomy 22:11 Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together.

KJV Leviticus 19:19 Ye shall keep my statutes...thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.

No mixing or mingling of fabric.

I have often wondered about which laws under the law we should obey and who picks and chooses them. I read somewhere that "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." Things could get messy if we obeyed the whole law, huh? Just a thought.

For what it's worth, here's my story: I was saved at an IFB church in AZ in 1966. I wasn't from an IFB background, & thus all the controversies, pro & con, on whatever subject of a particular issue was, never really entered my mind for at least 20 or so years after that. I gleaned from many so-called "IFB Heroes of the faith," but took each issue with a grain of salt. This is just MY HO( & I don't care to fight anyone whose own stance(s) on these seemingly divisive controversies may differ from mine--that's the Holy Spirit's work, and He would do a much better job at it than I ever would!) Fortunately (for me at least), I've come to the conclusion(s) that many of the "current controversies" stem from a lack of knowledge of many of the cultural customs of the Bible era (Both OT & NT eras) that don't really seem to have any "Bible Doctrinal" weight one way or another. EXAMPLE: One brother already mentioned the difference in men's outer clothing in our Western European Based society compared to that of many Eastern Asian Cultures. So, who's right & who's wrong on that issu? IMHO that ought to be up to one's Holy Spirit's convicting him (or her), & NOT some fiery, pulpit-pounding, KJVO, "Soul-Winning" preacher who's never spent a day on some foreign mission field. IOW, what may work for one individual may NOT always work for another person, be they IFB or SBC or whatever else they want to label themselves as. Case in point, a few years ago I was on (but didn't know it at the time) a "Pastor/Dictator" type forum. I mentioned the fact that the church to which I belonged at the time decided to move away from a "Hard-Line" strictly Pastor-led congregation (i.e., THE Pastor was the ONLY ONE who could preach about "Whatever") to a more congregation-led style wherein certain men within the congregation could lead a small Bible Study & Prayer Group. No sooner had I posted this information on that forum, then I was summarily (& permanently!) banned from that forum & declared "A vicious heretic spreading Satanic heresies!!" When I asked for the reason(s) why I was banned, their "Official Reply" to me was that they were so separated from worldly-minded issues that they would NOT even extend the common (i.e., "Worldly"!) courtesy of an answer to me. Thankfully, soon after that I found Baptist Board, where one can at least post her/his opinions without being publicly castigated as one of Satan's workmen (or workwomen).
