Why is Jack Hyles, Jack Schaap, First Baptist Church of Hammond, and Hyles-Anderson College disliked by so many of the members of the Baptist Board? Please give me any number of substancial reasons....

Just like the questions asks, give me something that has more to it than just "I don't like them"

You have asked questions like this before. It just gets old.

The answers are not going to change. Some people really like Hyles, etc. Some people really dislike him. And a few could care less either way.

    Why rehash all of it?

I don't remember asking questions like this before but anyway, as a Hyles supporter, I think it's the idea that Jack Hyles was one time a Southern Baptist preacher who felt God's leading not to compromise with the world. Another thing could be that people don't think that the preaching that Hyles did and now Schaap does should be done from the pulpit. The Bible does say, "Cry Aloud, Spare Not." Do any of these two reasons match your sentiments or are there other reasons. I'm truly interested in what the members of this board have to say.

    PreacherBoy......

    I sure would like him!!!

That's the kind of preachers I like!!

Too bad the world don't have enough of them.

That's why ameriKa is going to hell in a handbasket....lacy-drawered "preachers" that just (ahem!) "preach" for money.

I like the kind that step on your toes!! If a Preacher don't do that, he ain't no Preacher!

See the thing is Jack Hyles left the Southern Baptist Convention after they told him what to preach and I think people hold that grudge against him for becoming one of the leaders of Biblical Fundamentalism

Doing a search on the board here, one can find a number of threads about Jack.

    Search Here

Even though, I was not a part of any of those threads, I agree with PastorSBC1303.

Using the search feature of this board, instead of starting topics that have been fully discussed is a better thing to do.

Check out the threads you have started in your time here on the board. I just did and you have asked questions like this before.

And as Jamie has pointed out there are numerous threads on here discussing Hyles.

This is not even close to true. No one told Hyles or anyone else what to preach. Hyles and the SBC had a disagreement and he decided to leave. He had every right to leave.

Feel free to discuss things, but let's be honest about what happened and didn't happen.

I grew about 10 mins from Hyles church and know all about the stories, etc. And I stand by my original statement. Some really like him. Some really dislike him. Either way it is not worth rehashing it all. What are you hoping to accomplish?

You have obviously never heard the "I'm not for Sale" message he gave. Leaders of the SBC bought him suits, took him out to dinner and told him to stop preaching about homosexuals, women and pants, and the KJV. He stood up and said, "I'M NOT FOR SALE!" By hardening your heart against that great ministry, you really missed a chance at a real blessing. To answer your question, I want to know if there is any verifiable proof that backs up the claims presented on this board.

Wow, you do not even know me, and yet you know my heart is hardened?

I hope you have a good time on this thread. I am sure you will hear lots about Hyles.

Personally, I have no use for him, his church, his college or anything related. But I know there are many who feel otherwise and that is their right.

I am more interested in growing in my relationship with the Lord and building His Kingdom, rather than rehashing stuff about Hyles and his kingdom.

So are you bidding me to hell?
Wow! Someone needs to get to reading their Bible and stop relying on gossip. Well, I have to admit, this wasn't too good of an idea since no strong proof was presented. Shame on Me and Shame on WinDork

    (1) egomaniac,

    (2) preached a false Gospel and led many to a false sense of salvation

    (3) said his church had more saved and baptized than Pentecost,

    . . .and I'm just getting started!

Oh, and here's the PRIMARY reason, he said "Lordship salvation" makes him want to puke (heard it with my own two ears with a sermon on tape).

I wonder how many more perverts and child molesters need to be shown who they really are with that church and school before someome realizes something is wrong

I'll tell you why i disliked Hyles. I got tired of hear stories about Jack. His so called messages had one Bible verse and 20 stories about Jack. Each story told how holy Jack was, or How Jack handled it, or when Jack was wronged, and most of all when Jack was right. How Jack never owned a car. How Jack never buys a suit. How Jack built the school. How Jack had the biggest Church. How Jack had preached to more men then Paul. How many Jack had won to the Lord. How God needed Jack. How all good preacher Boys should be like Jack. Its all about JACK.

He was no preacher. Listen to his stories. They are on tape. You can find them online. The last time this "Jack" thread came up, I said something like this before. Someone replied...But you need to listen to his message called "duty". Its the best message I have ever heard..they went on to say. Well...I looked for the message..the best one in the world. And just like before...it was all about Jack. 1 or 2 verse...and stories about Jack. That has nothing to do with SBC. He was just a bad preacher.

Now..the man could tell a good story....yes he could.

Do not get me started on his doctrine. oh my...we would be here all night.

If you like to hear stories..Jack is the man for you. But..you better like stories about Jack,,for that will be 70% of them. If on the other hand you want to hear from the Bible, maybe you better look else where. For some reason Jack forgot to preach on the Bible.

Good story teller though...man could he tell a story!!

Yeppers, you know those "SBC leaders"--they're SO pro-homosexual.

    Sheesh.
    [/sarcasm]

I've got enough to do in my ministry here--I'm not worried about a preacher six states away from me. However, I would rather folks be truthful about the stances my denomination takes.
