    MOFFAT'S BIOGRAPHY

I haven't read Moffat's translation; I know nothing especially against it. I prefer the Phillips NT from later, but that's all I can say.

The Moffatt Bible was translated by James Moffatt. The New Testament section was published in 1913. The Old Testament section was published in 1924. The complete Moffatt Bible was published in 1926. It was completely revised and the type reset in 1935.

My copy is the 1935 revision, and it was published by Hodder & Stoughton, Publishers in London.

    A few sample texts:

Eph. 2:8, 9 For it is by grace you have been saved, as you had faith; it is not your doing but God’s gift, not the outcome of what you have done—lest anyone should pride himself on that.

John 3:16 For God loved the world so dearly that he gave up his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life, instead of perishing.

Romans 3:23-26 All have sinned, all come short of the glory of God, but they are justified for nothing by his grace through the ransom provided in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as the means of propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to demonstrate the justice of God in view of the fact that sins previously committed during the time of God’s forbearance had been passed over; it was to demonstrate his justice at the present epoch, showing that God is just himself and that he justifies man on the score of faith in Jesus.

1.if moffat believes in the deity of Christ then some of these cults here will get a great shock since they like his version so much.because they dont believe Jesus is God (but merely a man)

This compilation is from Nave's Topical Bible, downloadable for free from the E-Sword website. And the really great thing about this software version is that you don't have to look up the verses in your Bible to see what they say. All you have to do is move your mouse until the insertion point is over the reference that you want to read, and the whole verse pops up using the translation that you chose from a list of many (Unfortunately, the Moffatt Bible is not include).

Yes. My pastor spends a lot of time in the Philippines. After his last trip he brought back pictures of the HUGE house the leader of INC lives in in Manila, up on the hill overlooking the city.

He talked about the cult and how it is now coming to the US. They deny the deity of Christ and their leader believed he was the Angel of the east in the book of Revelation. He said he found that interesting in that the leader died a few years ago and left the cult to his son. How does an Angel die? [IMG]

INC don't believed in salvation by grace thru faith but by being a member of Iglesia ni Cristo then they shall be save.. aside from this, Jesus Christ is not their Lord, they believe that Jesus Christ is only a man sent from God  .. For your info about INC...

yes they are coming to the US.they got tv programs in major tv stations here.they keep on plug their churches in the US.the "east" thing is that they believe that the philippines is the far east i.e. the promise land where the true church will rise in the last days.and their leader is the 5th angel that is calling out to hold the winds in the four corners of the world.the 4 other angels are the big4 in WW1.unfortunetly the last days where as you know stated way back Jesus got caught back in heaven.

they have this magazine called "pasugo"(God's messeges)w/c i find it funny becoz some of its doctrine that are published their contradicts each other.

currently they are waging battle with another cult here ang dating daan (the former way) (w/c i feel came from their fold ).in every form of media they kept arguing.

marcia tnx for the link. [IMG]
