Jerry is SBC now. He is still on TV and radio. He has compromise much and is still a Bush supporter.
He is alive and still kicking, just not as high.

As for this thread's title, Brother Falwell has been persona non grata in my sector of the IFB galaxy since the late 70s.

    Plain Ole Bill!!

Falwell didn't exactly get booted out of the IFB---how can a person get kicked out of the IFB if the IFB is the IFB??

Falwell joined ranks with the SBC some years ago.

Didn't Billy Grahm bow at a Muslim gathering. What organization does he belong to besides the ecumenical movement?

Falwell as accused of being a "pseudo-fundamentalist" 30 years ago because of his lack of militant stand on separation/practice.

Of course, that doesn't make/exclude someone from being a fundamentalist. That is a DOCTRINAL issue and Dr. F as NEVER denied or compromised on one of the fundamentals of the faith.

He is STILL a fundamentalist. He is NOT "ifb" because he is not "independent".

Excuse my ignorance but I did not know that Dr. Falwell was SBC. When did that happen? Or is that just a joke?

    Greetings CMG:

I hope that this post finds you well.

According to this article, they joined in 1997.

Falwell's formerly independent church joined the SBC in 1997 and contributed $10,000 that first year to SBC causes through Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia, a new state convention formed in opposition to the Baptist General Association of Virginia.

As I am in Richmond, VA, I have Jerry Falwell to the West, and Pat Roberson to the East. We've got it all in the Commonwealth!!!

It's absolutely True. I saw him and his entourage from Thomas Road at the 1998 SBC Convention in Salt Lake City.

I don't follow much on Jerry, I don't hold much respect for him.
