Jospeh, have you forgotten Harding (another Baptist, BTW.)

Post-it, the Iranians released the hostages on inauguration just to humiliate Carter.

Threaten war on Iran? With what? After Vietnam, the armed forces were stuck with outdated equipment and poor morale. Look what happened in Grenada.

A Nobel should have went to Reagan for ending the 'Cold War'. It was Reagan who brought down the Soviet Union by outspending them militarily.

If ending the 'Cold War' isn't worth a Nobel what is?

I remember it very clearly, it was Reagan's threat of war that did the trick. They had long ago humiliated Carter. Part of Reagans campaign focused on his willing to go in with the military.

While it is true our military was in horrible shape, what shape do you think Iran's military was in with a cleric at the helm? It would have been easy to get them out.

Morals come from God. The eighth commandment says "thou shalt not steal". Carter was/is a socialist, which is based on theft. Using the power of the Presidency to force this on people, in my book, is immoral. You don't have to be an adulterer to be immoral.

As for his busy-body work for fair elections, I wonder why he didn't stay in Cuba on his last visit, to monitor the next presidential election there. Also, I'm waiting for him to address the fact that the presidential debates in our own country are allowed to arbitrarily exclude certain candidates who are on the ballot based solely on their party affiliation. I'm not holding my breath, though, because when you come right down to it, Carter is just another member of the big boys club of insiders with a thin veneer of goodness.

Well, please call me a socialist because I happen to care about my fellow mate upon this earth; because I care about the right of access to medical care despite one's plight; because I believe people who worked hard all their lives deserve a pension.

Yes, I am a socialist as are millions of Canadians and Brits....and we are glad of it,,,,Bless the Lord.......

I didn't know we were thieves and liars though....That is a new one to me,,,and thank you....... that is very refreshing.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Because Cater was not great in politics nor leadership, his achievements of Peace between Egypt and Israel may not have been the best thing? If it was so great, why does Israel still have no peace in the region.

Peace is not always the BEST answer. The best answer is often war. Yes, peace is a great goal to attain but usually comes after all the enemy is defeated. A "true" peace is not giving up rights only to be hammered by the next "related" neighbor enemy with their hopes of getting another chuck of pie. Israel needs to work out a peace plan in which all the Arab countries leave it alone or none. All or none. Otherwise, there will never be true peace for Israel. Lebenon, Syria, Palistine, Jordon... who is next in line to take a piece? Peace Plan... What peace plan did Carter help Israel to put together. It was just politics, nothing else. It was Israel bowing down to America and giving up what it earned in battle. The peace plan Carter put together was to keep the peace (and support) with America, not Egypt. When the other countries saw Eygpt fight a war with Israel, clearly losing the war but still getting a true "win", (thanks to Carter) then heck... why not have each country fight a little battle against Israel only to achieve some "hand out" for its leaders, they know America won't allow Israel to take over anymore lands. They know America won't allow Israel to "defeat" their enemy. No... the enemy has EVERYTHING to gain and NOTHING to lose.

    Thanks to Carter.

    That's right, Baptist Vine! [IMG]

    Post-it & PA Jim, [IMG]

What Carter did running down to embrace Fidel Castro was the pits! And it was financed, I do believe, by business interests who want normal trade relations with Cuba, not for lofty purposes such as humanitarianism.

When you strip away everything & get to REAL motives, it always ends up being GREED.

Even Fidel's own daughter (who escaped Cuba & is now a US citizen), was against the Carter to Cuba trip. The interview with her was on cable news.

I'm not one of the "millions of Baptists who send their congratulations" to Carter. Didn't he quit the Baptist church anyway?
Winning this prize is only an acknowledgement that your political philosophy is acceptable to those who hand out the award.

Yasser Arrafat was another big winner.
Ronald Reagan forced the Soviet Union to it's knees, eliminating the greatest threat to world peace in the last century. Who got the NPP?
    Gorbachev of course.

Carter bungled foreign policy at every turn.
And at home, who can forget the double digit inflation and 20% interest rates, massive unemployment and worker givebacks.

Carter worked for peace but made absolutely no difference.
I guess it's the thought that counts.
    Now maybe he'll shut up.

Only the socialist can care about others? "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; teach him to fish, you feed him for a lifetime!" This, I think, is the great gulf between the liberal and conservative.
    In other words:
1)LIBERAL(SOCIALIST): I am going to take care of you as long as you need me; don't push yourself, just lean on me for as long as it takes!
2)CONSERVATIVE: I am going to take care of you for a limited time; you learn how to ____ and when you can earn your own living, I'll butt out of your life!

    II
So did Christ, but He never advocated forced financing by others to meet this need. His way was for the believers to pool their resources to meet whatever needs arose; IE co-operation, NOT coercion! (Yes, I know that Christ didn't press for "MEDICAL" care, but I'm sure you get the point.)

    III
Pensions would be much easier to accumulate if so much were not taken for confiscatory taxes to fund govt give-aways. Refer to # 1 & 2 above

    Made no difference?

Last time I looked, Israel and Egypt were still at peace.

Post-it, you obviously don't remember it clearly. The American armed forces were a joke, with no disrepect to the men and women who served.

    You are hallucinating.

The American Armed Forces have never in our history been a joke, sir! The Commander in Chief is a different story... there has been two jokes since Vietnam... Clinton and Carter.

I said earlier that our forces were not in the best of shape having been through the ending of Nam', Watergate, then Carter. It was Congress, and the President that allowed them to deteriorate.

So do I. So, I use my own resources to help them. I don't try to use government force to take YOUR resources, give them to someone else, then claim that it is I who cares.
