Chavez did say one thing I agree with, he said "the United Nations headquarters should be moved away from New York". I'm sure his reasons for wanting the UN out of New York are different from my reasons however.

I don't think commodities work that way. A source offers a contract for sale and a buyer buys a contract. The supplier is obligated to deliver the stuff. No telling how many contracts it goes through before it is delivered to the processor.

 

That's right. If Venezuela sells their oil to someone else instead of us, then we can buy the oil that someone else was buying from another source that they replaced with the Venezuelan oil.

 

Ken, that is a good idea, but what about the possibility that a potential enemy is planning to buy massive quantities of oil, preventing us from obtaining as much as we need? It worry that China will start cornering the oil market and we will in be left out in the cold so to speak.

 

If venezuela doesn't want to sell oil to the US and the US doesn't want to buy oil in the Middle-East, it will simply have to buy it in Russia, Norway, Nigeria, or simply find it on it's own soil.
Ofcourse, such a turn of events will probably raise the price the US has to pay for it.

 

I am all for drilling in ANWAR finding more oil on our own soil, and building more refineries, which would, in fact, lower our prices.

You think because your soldiers died that YOU get exclusive rights to Iraqi resources? Why don't you tap into your OWN oil resources before mistakenly thinking you have the right to exclusive access to another country's resources. Soldiers don't FIGHT for YOU to have exclusive rights to another country's resources. Do they?
