Just suppose Obamas birth certificate was produced and it proved that he was NOT a natural born citizen.

Would he resign, would Congress impeach him, would the SCOTUS overrule him?
Would a criminal offense be forthcoming?
    What would Liberals say
Would Conservatives act like jerks and party all night?

    Salty

PS this is NOT a debate whether or not Obama is or not a natural born citizen, rather this only a "just suppose "

We would probably end up with a political crisis that would dwarf the War Between the States and possibly end the United States.

He can neither resign nor be impeached from an office he does not legitimately hold.

If it was found that he intentionally lied about his status there would have to be charges.

More than anyone wants to hear.

Nothing to party about. It would be a sad day for America and an embarrassment. Since Biden is the next in line he would most likely fill the seat. But there would be an argument made against the whole election being legitimate. This would be new ground and a lot of turmoil.

No one should party, but they would. Liberals shouldn't object to the rule of law, but they would.

I'd have to think Biden would be our 45th President almost immediately.

I think that is correct. There was a similar thread sometime back about who would be President January 20th if something happened to the President-elect before that date. The Vice-President-elect would become President.

Interesting scenario, and sure to trigger a constitutional crisis, but I agree, we'd have President Biden. Still, Obama has been certified as President when the electoral votes were counted. Could it be that it was "speak now, or forever hold your peace"?

The liberals and democrats wouldn't care.
Nothing would happen: The brotherhood has majority status in all 3 branches of government and they protect their own!
A criminal con game and fraud would have been perpetuated in such an instance.... but whether any could actually or figuratively (meaning career, or character impeachment) survive or succeed in bringing charges would be the real question!
Nothing ........OR .........they'd continue to claim it is a GOP conspiracy, or a delusion from conservatives, or a fundamentalist Bible thumping Christian conspiracy, or a set-up by the Right to Life supporters: Or a KKK or skin head set up against blacks.
Conservatives Party? Are you kidding? Conservatives are too straight laced and stingy with their money to spend it on wine, women and song....... oh yes, and drugs...... the typical "party" the rest of the world knows. (Funny.......lol...... just thinking about Conservatives and 'party' in a sentence together!) Wait! Does ice cream and cake, balloons and candles and pin the tail qualify as a party?
    Interesting POV, salty!

Sorry, but no. On the SCOTUS, all but Ginsburg and Breyer were nominated by Republicans. These two were Clinton appointees.

Conservatives give far more money to charity than the compassionate liberals. They are only compassionate with other peoples money.

I honestly believe that if that were proven to be the case, all those enamored with Obama really wouldn't care. And like stated above, they would blame it on conspiracy theorists, skin heads, or something like that. Our Constitution seems to mean little to some people including most on Capitol Hill.

The constitution has worked. Your constant implication that anyone who disagrees on this issue has a low view of the constitution is tiring.

At the moment - even if this silliness has merit - Barack Obama is constitutionally the president. The states chose their electors. The electors voted. Congress certified that vote. The Supreme Court refused to hear the case. Everything that has happened is constitutional. Lovers of the constitution acknowledge that and accept the results.

But I will play the game. If (and I have a hard time even accepting the preposterous notion) this somehow played out this would be the legal scenario.

Pres Obama's resignation would be demanded
If he refused impeachment proceedings would be started. The House would have to investigate the charges and decide whether or not Pres Obama was a natural born citizen.
If the impeachment was successful, and Pres Obama still refused to resign, he would be tried by the Senate.

Who knows what would happen? Even if the constitutional process took place and Pres Obama were found innocent there are some people who would place their politics above the constitution and not be satisfied. Some have not accepted the constitutional process so far, so why would we expect them to accept it even in the process played out? They would blame it on the liberals on the hill, the media, or something like that.

I love the constitution. It is, in my mind, the greatest political document ever produced. But no human document is perfect. We either accept it, even when its imperfections are manifested, or we throw it out and govern by mob rule.

So who would be trustworthy enough to acknowledge the veracity of the document since Congress and Supreme Court are not sufficient?

IFthis were to occur, I think that he would be booted out. I don't think charges would be brought against him. After all, they let Bill Clinton get away with perjury & obstruction of justice.

IFthis happened liberals would probably try to have that rule over turned. Others like Arnold Schwarzenegger would likely run for president. While he is a Republican, he ain't no conservative.

And your constant cutting me down, denigrating me over this issue is tiring, as well. Not just on this thread, but on several threads. I am rather sick of it. I don't see you making those types of comments to the men on this board, so it seems that because I am a woman you feel you can get away with it. Well, I am asking you to stop it.

If you don't believe the Obamanites would ignore the unconstitutionality of his presidency, then you are out of touch. There is a strong grassroots movement going complete with petitioners who are challenging his citizenship, not just one Attorney Philip Berg or one Alan Keyes.

Perhaps you give the issue no merit. Thousands of your fellow Americans disagree.

In some people's minds... no one. There is nothing that Obama can do for some that will prove this.

Just remember though, IF this were true and happened Obama would have a ace on his side, which I don't like. Didn't Bush sign an executive order stating something to the fact that if we are faced with a disaster or something that the POTUS can assume control of everything?

I very vaguely remember something about this and the comments on this board were if he tried to stay in office after the election we would all pick up our arms.. I wish I would remember the order.

If you guys remember what I am talking about, wouldn't Obama have that to use if this place started to crumble like some think it would?

Wouldn't that be a scary thing....

In defense of Roger, I don't see this as true. He has called out many people on this board where in his opinion it just doesn't make sense. For you to use the "woman" card is uncalled for and not true.

He always asks very valid questions and sometimes his questions hit too close to his point.

Is there a movement to outs Obama for this? I would hardly call it a movement? There are a handful of people (that have a motive of their own) that are pushing this.

But I have to ask, leaving Obama out of it. Do you not trust anyone else? I mean SOMEONE had to clear him to see the 'inside' reports. He had to be vetted by the FBI or NSA to get clearance. If there were something to this, where is McCain on this? Why isn't everyone from the Republican side singing this? Are they IN on it?

I understand your basic point of: Obama should have shown this to start with in a clear manner no one can refute. But, he did what he though was needed, that has been shown to be 'good enough' by most including the court, so when exactly does this end? What is the end game?

Back to Roger, he is a very fair debater and it's my opinion that you're mad at him because he has over the course, concerning this subject been to the point and asked questions that people don't want to answer because it will hurt their point.

If this is true Pres Bush established a very dangerous precedent.

The point is that it is not true - pure and simple. He has proven his citizenship to the satisfaction of the Electoral Commission, all 50 states, Congress, and the Supreme Court. The constitution still exists as the Supreme Law do the Land and it has worked.

250,000 Americans, less than 1/10 of one percent, pinning their hopes to a pipe dream are not going to change the truth.
