There is a huge difference between being a murderer, and being on the "wrong side" of the property line.

    It's STILL a Crime...

... and,if you do the crime, you should expect to do the time, or, in their case, be sent back home. Of course, they'll be back, because there is little at our border to stop them, and little in the enforcement of our immigration laws to stop them.

It's a sad reality, but, until the nation takes a stand, similar to Arizona, they'll keep coming. In fact 59% of Mexicans polled, said they would not come to the US if they could afford it.

That leaves us to believe that 41% of Mexicans would like to live in America. How could this economy afford having that many Mexicans come to America?

We need to get a grip on the immigration laws, and start to enforce legal immigration, set maximum numbers of aliens allowed in the US each year, and round up, and deport all those who have come here the wrong way.

Not according to Robert Snow's remark. He specifically said:

He didn't make any mention that the church should report some and shouldn't report others. He said that the church shouldn't report people to any authority. So, if there is a difference, Robert Snow isn't seeing it.

For the record, I also don't see the difference. A law breaker is a law breaker. It isn't up to me to determine which is a better or worse law breaker. We are told in Scripture to submit to "every ordinance".

On occasion, yes I have. I try my best not to however. When I do break the speed limit, I have no problem with a police officer pulling me over and giving me a ticket. I certainly wouldn't expect a church to give me sanctuary either!

BTW, I'm not sure what this has to do with a church giving sanctuary, or are you just changing topics?

I'm assuming that you're referring to this issue only. Certainly you're not suggesting we give "sanctuary" to violent or dangerous people.

Since this was addressed to me, I'll answer it, then I have to go.. I have a very busy week...

It depends on the crime.. most on the wanted posters are dangerous.
Most People just on the wrong property are not.

For instance, I have seen people I know that have suspended, or revoked Driver's licenses drive to church... did I go to my office, and notify the local police? NO.. .To me, hearing a gospel message that may straighten their life up is way too important than making sure everyone that walks through the doors are not breaking the law.

That's what I mean by my Heavenly Citizenship is more important than my Earthly Citizenship.

I have enough trust in the Gospel that IT will change people... I have seen it done.

I just think this issue has became something that is over politicized. The media loves stirring up conflict.

And BTW.. not all Hispanics are "Mexicans".. And not all illegals are Hispanics...
While the media trains us to look south for illegals, how many are slipping through from the other 3 directions?

You see, when you automatically think "Mexican" when this issue is before you, you have become prejudiced... IOWs.. if "illegal alien' = "Mexican".. then we have a problem.

And that problem will lead to racial profiling in Arizona. They will look for "Mexicans".. and will let a creamy white guy from Denmark walk by.

Not if EVERYONE coming across the border and/or stopped because of the committing an infraction of any kind (traffic included) is required to show proper documentation regardless of color, white, brown, red, black...

I have no problem when the officer pulls me over and asks for my license, registation and insurance paperwork enforcing the existing laws.

I do believe special treatment should be given to alien migrant workers.
Less than a green card but more than "illegal status" with limited rights as compared to rights of a legal American citizen. Maybe a temporary document for 180 days with regulated piecemeal or less than minimum wage pay(hey, its better than starvation).

I don't know what all the details would involve but its better than a flood of "unknowns", perhaps the basic requirement(s): A birth certificate and Proof of "no felony" status from the home country.

We need to help these people but we also need to preserve the Law of the Land.
