Katherine Harris to Run for Senate Seat

Harris, 48, said she would run as a conservative but progressive candidate. After her announcement, she began a five-day campaign tour of 10 major Florida cities from Miami to Pensacola.

The first "source" is a person's private blog. Even I have one on blogspot. Can mine be considered a "news source" as well?

How are they suspect..they run the spectrum.

My sources are more than fair..one is WP neutral
and announcing her run...one is documenting the
Kabbalah water fiasco and the last is actually
giving her a chance to defend herself by claiming
not knowing or not caring or just plain doing
a sloppy job in government accountability..she
may very well have not known.

by all means post a Newsmax.(we could all use another hannity book to get the fireplace going come winter) ;)

You noticed her own release

Harris, 48, said she would run as a conservative but progressive candidate. After her announcement, she began a five-day campaign tour of 10 major Florida cities from Miami to Pensacola.

by all means Ps104_33 defend her or post a link
or 3 links ..but it seems to me you need some
cheese with your grape juice. ;)

btw you are in Tampa will you be supporting her
you could get a discount on the miracle water. ;)

Yes I complain about Newsmax if I wanted to by
right wing propaganda material I would go down
to the book store...but to generate the reason
you exist off of book sales is in and of itself
suspect..it is what it is ..grossly right wing
and it makes no apologies for it..by the way
you can now buy 3 ann coulters and 3 hannitys for
the price of 1 and they will throw in a michael
savage shower curtain with a life sized picture
of michael savage on it with the caption.

"I even hate dirt"<major gig> ;)

Okay, so answer the question. I have a blogspot. Can it be considered a news source as well?

I would try to mix a blogspot with a news item
or the blogspot may handle that for you with its
own inserted comments or none at all or you can
put a disclaimer saying this is your blog and
and is your opinion alone...There is a lady on
here that has a wonderful blog and I think it
has won awards..I don't always agree with her
but her blog is really award winning very well
done...JGrubbs have visited his site it is clean
and sharp and allows comments but now I have to
sign up ..which I understand at least he is not
cutting off other views.

I like blogs that allow you to comment that to
me is a true blog..some are wide open others
you must sign up which I think is fair but a blog
like Michelle Malkin who is very opinionated and
that is fine, does not have comments which is not
fine in my book..blogs must have a comment section
or they can be pigeon holed as just repeating
talking point style agendas.imho.

When I do link from the Huffington Post which
is a blog/news portal. I try to link the authors
bio, comment section(so you can comment) and then
of course the pertinent story from the blog that
is supporting or counter pointing a particular
topic amd I try to put in news links that support
the blog..but there can be over kill and people
really do want to know ..what you think.

Its fine if people bemoan your links and I accept
that but the point is to push back and be fair
and I am guilty sometimes of not always pushing
back and I generally like a many sided view from
all sources ..but for me to park my brain at
one news organization or one site, equates to a
sin from my perspective. ;)

sorry JohnV for the long windedness I would consider it a news source lite
but it is not a pure newsource since your commentary may surround the news source and again
"power to the people" you are also reporting and
commenting just as a William F. Buckley and what
is wrong with that..people will flock to quality
fairness, and integrity.

The blogosphere is ever changing people are
turning away from $MSM$ ..new stars are emerging
and voices not heard before are being heard.

bloggers imho must do more investigative reporting
and actually do journalism if they are going to
reach quality or gain respect ..anyone one can
portal news stories and commentary but a blogger
who actually reports a story ..developes it...
investigates it..now that may be the future and
perhaps it needs an Association of standards to
keep it top notch.

whew! One thing for sure JohnV it is being
debated and hashed out and I am only one
opinion.

Alot more a whole lot more..Blogs could reach
Newspaper status and seperate themselves from
the millions of other blogs..we are seeing hints
of that...we could coin new words.

Blogspaper
Reportersblog
Journalistblog

and the beat goes on...the beat goes on

Well the education of Aslanspal continues...saw
Katherine Harris on Hardball she handled herself
not just well but very well and she came off
progressive (whoops!)and was she up close to the
camera as if she was letting her detractors have
it..which I admired.

The Kabbalah may just turn out to be a blip her
next problem might be being framed a liberal progressive Republican but she does not seem to backing off from that...she did come off very pro-Florida and she sold that well she may be up against Karl Rove on this one...but he can suck on a Bob Novak bottle as far as I am concerned.

I"ll interject my $.02. A blogspot is NOT by default a news source. A blogspot is by default a web log. That is, a place on the internet where people can simply log their own words. At best, a blogspot can be considered a single person's commentary.

I fail to see how one can make the assertion that bloggers do more investavigative reporting or journalism than mainline news agencies. The vast majority of bloggers are plain folks like you and me. They spend a few minutes typing out their viewpoints and upload it to thier blogs. Anyone can get a free blog spot on www.blogspot.com.

To reiterate, a blog spot is not a news source. It's an online commentary at best. If one cites a commentary noting "this blogger's view", then that's one thing. But to point to a blogger and site it as a news source is incorrect and unadviseable.

I agree that a blogspot is not a news source, but the blogspot in the OP was simply quoting from a newspaper.

Better than Nelson. Also the most important vote a Senator or Representative votes is their first vote, whether the Senate or House is to be organized as a Republican Senate or House or as a leftist cabal.

Whether we like it or not, we have had, for all practical purposes, a two party system since the inception of this nation.

Therefore I tend to vote for Republicans. However, if a Republican candidate is simply unacceptable to me I have been known to vote for a Democrat or an independent or a third party(especially for president) or to skip voting in a particular race.

I tend to do the same. Although, I make it a policy to never disclose my voting results to anyone. Too many selfrighteous fingerwaggers who will question my salvation and/or faith if the found out I voted for, say, a democrat or independent from time to time.
