Keith Ellison refuses to take oath on the Bible, but that’s not all!

I'm not a history buff about Catholics in Congress, but I see some of the ones that are in Congress now as phonies. Like Kerry and Kennedy, they say they are against abortion yet they vote for the right to slaughter babies. Of course you have this with non Catholics who call themselves Christians as well, maybe even more so. And we have thousands of "professing" Christians voting for these representatives. It is quite hypocritical, not a Christian thing to do at all. The bottom line is that you vote for the one who holds your views.

    God Bless!

    That was my reaction, too.

What a statement; but, judging by other remarks you have made, I'm not surprised you said it.

Seems like we might be better off with a "Catholic" as President rather than the Protestant we have currently.

The only biblical fault I can find with Bush is that he trys to push the falsehood that Islam is a peaceful religion, hyjacked by radicals. Maybe he is just ignorant of scripture concerning this point.

    God Bless!

Let those that want to worship satan and his prophet go somewhere else.

1st Amendment - even actual Satanists are allowed to live here, vote and hold office.

Isn't it true that the actual oath of office is down in the chambers with no cameras, recording, family, spectators, etc ... and nothing except a hand raised? The "oath" with a Bible or anything else is just for show and pictures, I think.

But in any case, which is better (or worse): Taking an oath on a book that isn't true, or taking an oath on a book that is true but that you don't intend to live by and vote by?

IMO, it is no different than building groves to Baal.

    BTW, See this thread: http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=35609

He has ties to group that holds the Quran/Islam as the highest legal authority. I supposed those of you who have no problem with him taking the oath of office on the Quran don't have a problem with this, either.

Two different issues. Besides, I don't take anything WND says seriously. They are as reliable as the Weekly World News.

Is their story inaccurate in some way?

OK Let me get this straight.

Swearing is good, but only with your hand on the Bible

America is Christian, even though God didn't die for dirt but people and the founding fathers didn't put it the constitution, even though they had every chance imaginable

A moderator can make fun of other religions

Yes, I'd like for someone to point out the inaccuracies in the WND article. Links would be nice, also.
