They had to get him there first.

He chose to struggle. He was fortunate to be tasered. In the past, it would have been a nightstick with real pain and lasting bruises and possible broken bones and split skulls.

The main point is that he is responsible for his treatment, all of it. He wanted to make a scene. He did.

    Bro Curtis

I worked at Juvenille Hall many years ago as a Teachers Assistant. As a kid, I was in Juvenille Hall for a fight which resulted in beating him up. I have subdued a few guys before in my life, one at Juvenille Hall when I was 20 years old, he was 18. The other was later deemed a schizophrenic.
I am a brown belt so that helped
I DIDN'T tazer them and watch them scream.

    What's your point?

because they begin with the supposition that tazers are bad under any circumstances. Of course with most of them most tools and methods of law enforcement are bad.

A nightstick doesn't stop the heart from beating, and bruises and broken bones will heal. I get bruises and broken bones from my Mountain Bike Riding. One swat of a nightstick might be enough to stop someone, where a tazer may kill them by stopping their heart. Or causing a heart attack.

You're right. If the kid had minded the Officers, there would be no problem. But he didn't, and we don't know why. Even if he deliberately disobeyed officers (no there was no force until the Officers began using it) and had no mental problems, there is still no need for a tazer in this situation. He was subdued, now place the cuffs on him.

Men, we can't be so scared of others that we torture them unnecessarily. A Tazer is easily abused, if the Cop doesn't like what you say, he can repeatdidly tazer you until your heart stops beating. Then deny he ever did it as there are no bruises and broken bones as evidence.
    EEeeek what torture!

    People always scream when tazed.

I was a crisis intervention specialist for nine years. I have held kids down and injected them with thorazine, I have twisted their arm behind their back until they could not do anything, I have put rug burns on their face, I have suffered rug burns myself, I have had ribs broken, I have seen female counselors punched, choked, and know of at least a half dozen attempted rapes. If I had a taser, you better believe I would have used it, if the situation warrented.

    What's yours ?

His treatment was his fault and his alone.

Your crusade should be directed at the use of the tazer by all law enforcement officers. It currently is an accepted method to subdue unruly subjects. Until that changes...

But it really doesn't matter what method they used to subdue him. Meyer was responsible.

Gee, didn't the L.A. cops get into a whole bunch of trouble when they used their nightsticks ?

Seems like cops can't win. Why would anyone want to be one ?

read my post. I never said that. I noted a tazer is easily abused and explained why.

So can a Monadnock PR 24 baton, as well as the Barretta 9 Mill, mace, pepper spray.

The potential for abuse is not a reason to discount its use. This would discount everything.

I admire you. Keep helping those kids Bro
Note: I feel Cops lie as often as the kids do, so please don't discount their stories. The one thing you can do to help is believe them. Many Cops are our angels to our rescue

It appears that there is a very real unwillingness to consider the plight of law enforcement and the dangers they face. And it is sad that they are put in this position.

You don't know me from Adam...so what you "think" is irrelevant.
The guy that got tazered was an adult.

Who was acting like a child. I'd have tased him too. He wasn't going to stop until something like this happened. My experience on the front line tells me this, and my instincts were well respected at the Stetson School for Boys, in Barre, Massachusetts. Call them. I hates to brag, but I was the best child care worker they ever had, and have seen a thousand spoiled brats, just like this guy, and I know what I'm talking about. You don't have to agree, but you don't have to be right, either.
