Careful Tim. You'll be accused of gossiping.

I actaully put together a skit from this at our church a few years back (before I was a pastor) with about 18 people who ages ranged from 17 to 50. We obviously had to get permission to do it since it wasn't really anything spiritual. However the massage the pastor had put together went very well with my request to do the skit. The message was on what we think it takes for revival and what God does to bring about revival. (the truth of self-examination with Christ as the standard, repentence, and steadfastness toward holiness, love, and the truth). He ended by looking back at the end of the song where the deacons and Pastor got saved, money was given freely, 50 joined up for missions immediately.

A true revival isn't about increased church attendance or money but increased Christ-likeness of those to which revival has come.

WOW Allan - that musta been some message! I don't think I've ever seen a pastor give a massage during the message. Maybe that's what it takes these days to get revival going in our churches - get massaged first! I'll sign up!
Are you sure this thread shouldn't be under the slip of the tongue one?

    LOL! :D :D :D

    Revival in a box

I figure that the main component that is lacking in churches today as far revival goes, is prayer. There was a time when my pastor went to North Carolina to preach a revival and each night when he got in the pulpit at our church in Pennington Gap Va there were 20 to 30 people there praying for him while he preached. He came back with an awesome report of what God did there.

As far as the Mississippi squirrel revival...my mom used to get in a tissy about the first self righteous church part, but I believe thats the biggest problem with our churches, its full of self righteous people. If a squirrel could cure that I believe every pastor oughta set a live trap outside and let one loose. You could even market it for sale : Revival in a box.

I think this is the main component missing in churches period today. :praying: It's very telling that most "prayer meetings" are 30-45 minutes of gossip and then maybe 5 actual minutes of prayer.
